Quotes

  • [a piece of art called the "Fist of Capitalism" has been stolen]

Richard Castle : [sotto, to Beckett]  Somebody stole the "Fist of Capitalism"? Anybody check up the ass of socialism?

  • Finn Depesto : Serena. Why you been such a stranger? You don't love me no more?

Serena Kaye : Ah, Finn, I've been busy.

Finn Depesto : Busy with what? Jason Bateman over here?

Richard Castle : Hey, that got me out of a speeding ticket once.

  • Kate Beckett : I gotta hand it to you. This whole long con you've got going? It's impressive. Cozying up to insurance companies, telling them that you want go straight, all the while, waiting for your next score.

Serena Kaye : What are you talking about?

Kate Beckett : The only catch was that you knew you needed Hayes, but you knew you couldn't get away with it if you let him live. So you insinuated yourself into my investigation to cover your tracks.

Serena Kaye : And here I thought Rick was the only writer on your team.

    [cut to observation room]

Kevin Ryan : "Rick"? You guys on a first-name basis now?

Javier Esposito : Well... he was making out with her in the hotel hallway.

Richard Castle : Beckett told me to stall her!

Javier Esposito : She also tell you to use tongue?

  • [last lines]

Richard Castle : I can put Alexis through college on this.

Kate Beckett : Yeah, and med school.

Richard Castle : Thank God I'm rich.

  • Martha Rodgers : Really? An insurance investigator?

Richard Castle : A sexy insurance investigator. I think she'd make a great character for my next book.

Martha Rodgers : Well, you seem rather taken with her.

Richard Castle : I find her... impressive.

Martha Rodgers : What's she like?

[cut to Beckett with Dr. Burke]

Kate Beckett : She's an uncooperative, cocky, stubborn know-it-all.

Dr. Carter Burke : But she is good at her job?

Kate Beckett : Yeah, well, Castle seems to think so.

Dr. Carter Burke : And that bothers you?

Kate Beckett : Yes, of course it bothers me.

    Dr. Carter Burke : Why?

Kate Beckett : Because he's supposed to be...

    [pauses, sighs and sits down]

Dr. Carter Burke : Be what?

Kate Beckett : My partner. I mean, he's supposed to be on my team. He's not supposed to be all smitten.

    [cut back to the loft]

Richard Castle : "Smitten"? Mother, I think "intrigued" is a better word.

Martha Rodgers : So, what's our next move?

    Richard Castle : Move?

Martha Rodgers : Oh, Richard, honestly. Beckett has made it plain that she's not available, for now. And now you've met this woman, she's smart, she's incredibly attractive, you're intrigued by her. Why not ask her out?

    Richard Castle : It's complicated.

[cut back to Dr. Burke's office]

Dr. Carter Burke : Why is it complicated?

Kate Beckett : You know why it's complicated.

Dr. Carter Burke : Only what you've told me... Kate... what are you really scared of? That he won't wait for you? Or that he will?

  • Javier Esposito : [their victim is impaled on a piece of art]  Meet Bryan Hayes, 39. Executive director of the museum.

Richard Castle : Looks like someone gave him liberty *and* gave him death.

  • [after kicking open a hiding place]

Richard Castle : Looks like I broke this case wide open.

  • [Castle is looking at a piece of art made up of televisions]

Kate Beckett : Getting ready for your close-up, Castle?

Richard Castle : No, just trying to discern the hidden meaning. Is it about the rise of technology? Rampant narcissism? Or... did someone just have a lot of extra TVs?

Kate Beckett : Well, sometimes you don't need to know what it's about. Sometimes it's just... art.

Richard Castle : Why, Detective Beckett, how very existential of you. Let me guess. Art Theory in college.

Kate Beckett : No, the closest I ever came to taking an art class was posing for one, as a model.

Richard Castle : Wait. Posing in?

Kate Beckett : Not a stitch.

  • Kate Beckett : Wait, so now you're telling me that you don't believe she's in on this?

Richard Castle : Why would she tell me she's a thief? Why offer that up?

Kate Beckett : Because she's feeding you just enough truth so that swallowing the lies is easier.

    Richard Castle : I don't think she's behind this.

Kate Beckett : Yeah, well, you're thinking with the wrong body part.

  • Serena Kaye : I could consult on your case and share my insight.

Richard Castle : You know, that is an intriguing idea.

Kate Beckett : No, thank you. That won't be necessary.

Serena Kaye : Well, can't blame a girl for trying. Mr. Castle. Detective Beckett.

[Serena turns and walks away with Castle admiring the 'view']

Richard Castle : You know, we really could've *used* her. She has valuable assets.

    [Beckett gives him a look]

Richard Castle : Not those kind.

  • [entering Castle's office where Castle is writing]

    Martha Rodgers : Darling...

Richard Castle : One second. I'm just about to toss a guy off the Brooklyn Bridge.

Martha Rodgers : Oh, I am sure that...

[moves around to read the screen]

Martha Rodgers : Carter Damien would appreciate a short reprieve.

Richard Castle : [finishing up]  Too late. He just went kersplat. Now, how can I help you?

Martha Rodgers : I've invited my acting class to come here Friday night to do the Nora scenes from "A Doll's House".

Richard Castle : Thank you for the warning.

    [whispers]

Richard Castle : I will make myself scarce.

Martha Rodgers : No, no, no. No, no, darling, this class could *really* benefit from your perspective as a, as a writer. No, you definitely should be here.

Richard Castle : Mother, what's going on?

Martha Rodgers : There's a lovely girl in the class...

    Richard Castle : Oh, Mother...

Martha Rodgers : ...and I just thought maybe...

Richard Castle : ...you're not trying to fix me up again. Haven't you learned your lesson after the last fiasco?

Martha Rodgers : Fiasco? You married her.

Richard Castle : Yes, and how did that marriage end?

Martha Rodgers : Honey, I am just trying to help you. You have to admit that your social life has been a bit anemic as of late.

Richard Castle : Now I want to throw myself off the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • Richard Castle : So you were kind of like the, uh, female Indiana Jones, only... without the hat and whip.

Serena Kaye : Well, without the hat.
