A Refreshing and Captivating Story from Hallmark!
jimbojim-0373913 June 2022
I really enjoyed this Hallmark movie. There is so much to like and explore but The one scene that really pulled at my heart strings was with the Sales Lady in the Bridal Shop. The honesty and level of forgiveness really elevated an already touching script. We can all learn from that scene. The leads were simply charming and gave wonderful and honest performances. I can't remember a time when I actually cared about the characters....everything just comes together for a special and well directed film by Peter ( I am in everything Hallmark produces) Benson.

Enjoy and cheers!!

Truly full of inspiration
innerlooper9615 January 2024
I loved this movie; the most compelling feature of this movie is the bravery exuding from both David and Lily. Their ability to adapt and thrive in a world that doesn't understand their abilities and can be limiting for them is remarkable.

Lily is just perfection from the very start. As Kendall, she is cheerful, 'can-do' minded, and very ready to grow up and experience life for herself. Not looking for love, Kendall is busy living her life when she meets a young man named David. He and Kendall immediately become friends, and this turns into love.

Kendall's mom, Erica Durance's character, is what I would say is the perfect mom. She really takes the best care of Kendall and exudes the feeling that she is beyond fortunate to have been blessed with her. Emma is her name, and she is cautious but confident. Like many moms, she is careful about Kendall's safety and more importantly, her heart. The scenes they share really drive home the idea that a great parent will do almost anything to make their child feel loved and safe.

Beverly is the grandmother of Kendall, and a giant proponent of allowing Kendall to explore her possibilities.

David DeSanctis plays Brad, Kendall's friend and eventual love interest. He is absolutely wonderful in how he balances the silly side of his humor with his very serious ability to love. His love for Kendall is unquestionable.

The movie is a fast watch; there are no boring moments, and also not very many tropes that you might expect. There is only one situation where the expected rejection toward Kendall appears, and that scene ends up being incredibly moving. I loved how this scene gives the watcher some closure, instead of sitting on the point that most people are unhelpful to those with special differences.

As a character, Beverly (Grandmother) was amiable, but it did seem to me that she was unnecessarily dismissive of the caution that Kendall's mom displayed. I understand the rationale that Hallmark was trying to convey - they were highlighting how over-protectiveness on the part of a parent can become the norm if it isn't 'checked', which can negatively impact Kendall and her mom as well. It was the somewhat condescending spirit that stood out to me from Beverly, and even as a non-parent, I found myself thinking that the liberties she tended to promote for Kendall were just not well-thought.

If I had more experience with those who have Down Syndrome, I might better understand the realities and risks that are present, but my observations for Beverly are based on my own potentially ignorant understanding.

All in all, an excellent and captivating movie.

Worth watching many times!
I really don't have anything extra to add to the other reviews. They express most of my sentiments but I feel I need to add two more. One, folks with Down Syndrome do have disabilities, yet they are lovely and loving people. We so called normals should strive to be more like them. And two, Brad's t-shirts rock!! So many normals could use a dose sense of humor and simple happiness.

Hallmark gets real
beckywink13 June 2022
This was far and away the most substantive hallmark movie to date. Divorcées, special needs adults who are fighting for some autonomy, the emotions that come wife being a special needs parent and the extra level of letting go, even the dangers of conservatorships - I actually sat and watched the whole thing. There's a reason this has 8.4 stars instead of the usual fluffy hallmark 5.

Fabulous movie about people with disabilities
wblum524-881-26205213 June 2022
This is one of the best Hallmark shows ever. My wife taught young adults with disabilities at Project Search. I saw how people who care can make a difference and assimulate them into society. These two young handicapped actors did an absolute perfect job showing that mentally challenged people can fall in love, pursue happiness and live like everyone else in society. The actress who played the mother nailed her role with compassion and the tribulations that go with the responsibility of raising a handicap child and protecting them. I hope Hallmark does a sequel.

Absolutely delightful

This movie is amazing. The young Downs Syndrome actors are wonderful. The story is beautiful. It's about protecting those we love - letting go ... and true love. I will watch this one again and again. I am a huge Erica Durance fan ... so there's another plus. She and Benjamin Ayres have great chemistry in this movie. Thank you Hallmark for bringing this amazing story to life ...

A must-watch Hallmark film!
sandpark-7005214 June 2022
This was by far one of the best Hallmark movies I have seen in years. It rises to the level of a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. All of the actors were amazing and so believable. I think that every mother can relate to the challenge of being protective of her daughter while trying to let her be independent and happy in life. The challenge of having a daughter with special needs only amplifies the emotions between holding-on and letting-go. Please make more movies like this one! I will definitely watch it again.

(My one complaint: Because not all TV providers (i.e. DirecTV) carry Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, my sister is unable to see this movie. Please consider showing this movie on the regular Hallmark Channel to reach a wider audience).

Amazing

This is a Hallmark movie I cannot watch. I am so happy Hallmark has made an intelligent movie about Special People.

As a mother who raised a special child primarily on her own, it is a movie I am unable to watch. It would tear me up. I am a person who keeps emotions tightly bottled up. I know it would rip me apart and honestly, I cannot let that happen. I have lived it.

Thank you Hallmark for covering such an important part of life with such outstanding aplomb and grace.

What a dumb movie
rpmedic20 June 2022
Boring, bad acting and a crappy plot. Totally unrealistic. Why would they even make a movie like this? Don't waste your time, it's 90 minutes you'll never get back.

I loved it!
crosemnnc21 June 2022
This movie brought out so much. People with disabilities can function in this world. They may do it differently, but different can be good. This mom did everything right in raising her daughter. She loved her, encouraged her to develop her strengths and encouraged a healthy amount of independence. She is a mom and moms are and will always be concerned about their children.

This is such a nice break from Hallmark's usual movies that as of late have been the same thing over and over again.

I really enjoyed this.

Uplifting, Touching with Great Acting
catherinewaters-9173813 October 2022
Wow, this is now my favorite ever Hallmark movie. The core story is universal: a devoted mom struggling to truly let go and let her daughter use her own wings. The daughter is 22, in love and wants to marry her boyfriend. The young couple both have Downs Syndrome. Their chemistry is lovely and genuine and their acting is excellent. Their relationship and potential wedding plans are filled with pure love, sweetness, delight and a few struggles. As the bride's mom rides the waves of change, it is believable and touching. The mom is also an excellent actor. Supporting cast is terrific too. I loved the feisty, up-for-anything grandmother, the mom's own steady love interest and the friends of the young couple. This is a story of pure young love, later in life love, devotion to family. The bride guides everyone in such a genuine, uplifting way. This movie is a jewel.

Blown away by this one!
hallmarkmov1 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'll be honest, when it first came on and all the ads didn't make me want to watch it. Then it was replayed recently and I was enthralled by this movie! I connected instantly to the mom who is the main character- the commercials made it seem like it was the daughter- and I felt her pain, anxiety, joy, and every effort she put forward was for her daughter and to protect her. Hallmark did an amazing job with this one! It got real! The fear of what your kid will be like in the real world, marriage, even fear of intercourse was touched on! I couldn't believe where this movie went but without becoming controversial. This was actually the first hallmark movie that made me believe the couple had pure love and that maybe it is enough to begin a life built on that. The rest of the time this concept is lost on me but i loved the cast and it told a complete story! Give this one a watch!

Beautiful Move
pattersonjamie-120793 August 2022
Absolutely loved this movie. It was sweet, but totally realistic. It addressed the fears parents have with special needs children and what become of them. It showed how special needs people can be productive members of society and have a great life. Great acting and great movie.

Heartwarming, Inspiring, and an absolute Tearjerker!
mavisre30 July 2022
Wow! What can I say about Color My World with Love that hasn't already been said. The storyline, the setting, the backstories, and cast were all 5 stars and the performance by Lily D. Moore and David DeSanctis had me experiencing onion tears throughout. The scene in the bridal shop, where Kendall reminds the rude clerk that "everyone needs love" was so real and heartwarming! Equally charming was the backstory of finding love again after losing hope. Benjamin Ayres and Erica Durance are quickly becoming two of my favorite Hallmark pairs! Here's to a sequel we all want - maybe a Christmas story?

Poignant Feel-Good movie
mja582 July 2022
The movie brought across the point that if you are determined, you can do anything no matter what. And more importantly, that it is a GOOD THING to be in love.

This movie really touched me and I felt good with the ending.

If you are in a bad or depressed mood, watch this movie and you'll feel better.

10/10.
