Quirky, ultimately disturbing, and provocative
film-critic-nyc8 September 2011
A quirky yet ultimately disturbing meditation on the search for truth through art and the ultimate consequence of egoism and obsession. "Death by Suicide" chronicles the journey of a small documentary film crew, led by a a sententious director, who aims to capture a real life suicide on camera as a means to probe the quandary of existence and suffering. The primary conflict of the film centers around the director's paradoxical attempt to find true meaning in his subjects' plight while also trying to manipulate and control the means by which they express themselves, which leads all involved to an unforeseen and life shaking finale. Michael S. Chandler creates a voyeuristic yet oddly welcoming environment that is sure to resonate in the minds of his audience.
