Leo's backstory parallels that of the character of Leonard Martin in the original Richard Greener novel "The Locator: The Knowland Retribution," which served as source material for the series. Nathan Stein had also been a character in that book.
Leo's computer password, Ozymandias, is a reference to the poem of the same name by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Part of it reads, "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone / Stand in the desert. . . . [the rest of the statue is in pieces nearby] / And on the pedestal, these words appear: / My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; / Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! / Nothing beside remains. Round the decay / Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare / The lone and level sands stretch far away."
