Another Average Episode

Another poor episode of "How I Met Your Mother". It's rare for the show to have two stinkers in a row, but hey ho

Plot in A Paragraph: Ted agrees to go on a date without researching each other on the Internet beforehand, Barney urges Marshall and Lily to find out and reveal the gender of their child, and Kevin tries but fails to avoid passing judgment on the group.

MY GOD!! Kal Penn can not act!! He is awful, his delivery is cringeworthy, and his character is not that interesting either!! He ruins every scene he is in, which is a lot of them. For the first time in a while I enjoyed the Ted storyline (Truthfully I have lost all interest in him and Robin as characters) its Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel that keep this reviewer watching.

Mystery vs. History (#7.6)

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't really like the story about Lily and Marshall not wanting to find the gender of their baby. The show went over the top trying to make it look as if it is bad to have gender neutral rooms and not rise the kids stereotypically as boys and girls. As I said before Robin who is so damn cool should be happy she wasn't raised as a lame girl. And yes the color in the room was ugly, but just use a better one. You know, there are much better looking colors besides pink and blue.

The only fun part was Ted's story. And the only really fun part about it was trying to figure out what is wrong with his date as well as his reaction at the end.

Ridiculously Insensitive

Warning: Spoilers
Most of the episode was okay, however I was shocked that Ted ditched his date after Barney and Robin revealed to him that she used to be fat. Weight loss for some people is a miserable experience they undergo because they feel unworthy to be dated due to their weight. Now a girl manages to overcome that to be at a weight she is happy with, and the gang consider it bad that she used to be something she is currently not anymore? Honestly if you aren't young hot and white in this show, you're basically glossed over.

Questionable Context

Warning: Spoilers
It is subtle but there appeared to be some insensitive and inappropriate lines in the scene with Amber Dawn Stevens "no I ain't", " you gooder than me...".

I was shocked and had to listen to it again to make sure I heard it correctly the first time. There are times when the cultural humor is funny but in this case it feels offensive.
