Sir David Attenborough has vowed to continue working, despite being fitted with a pacemaker. The 87-year-old broadcaster underwent emergency heart surgery in June, but he is determined to keep making shows at the same speed as he did beforehand because he insists the medical device allows him to continue what he enjoys doing rather than hinders him. Speaking at the launch of his new nature film, 'Penguins 3D', he said: ''If you're in your late 80s as I am, and your heart needs to be helped with collaborations, then it is easily fixed with one of these things [a pacemaker]. ''You...

Sir David Attenborough has vowed to continue working despite undergoing emergency heart surgery in June.
The 87-year-old was forced to cancel a planned tour of Australia to have a pacemaker fitted following advice from his cardiologist.
However, the presenter insisted that the operation hasn't prompted him to consider cutting down on his busy work schedule.
"If you're in your late eighties as I am, and your heart needs to be helped with collaborations, then it is easily fitted with [a pacemaker]," he said at the launch of his new nature film Penguins 3D.
"You just go in for 24 hours and it's done. I don't think it has made me reassess my work at all or any trips ahead. It allows one to continue the way one does until one can't, doing what I enjoy."
Attenborough had previously told fans that he would reschedule his scrapped tour of Australia.

It’s no secret that Sir David Attenborough is one of the most well-respected documentary filmmakers in the world, and year after year, he continues to bring us some of the most fascinating films, granting us insight into otherwise-unknown elements of our world.
For The Penguin King 3D, Attenborough reunites with filmmaker Anthony Geffen after their BAFTA-winning Flying Monsters 3D, for another 3D adventure that takes us to the island of South Georgia, following the life of a King Penguin from adolescence to adulthood.
Fully grown and ready to emerge from his life as a bachelor, the documentary tells the story of a King Penguin coming back to the island he was born on, looking for a mate, and wanting to start his own family.
In a nature documentary like this, there is a fine line between telling a story that is too human, too anthropomorphised, and one which is devoid of emotional impact,...

★★★☆☆ Almost perennially it seems, humanity's favourite flightless birds - the humble penguin - descend in numbers upon UK box offices, looking to re-capture the imagination of children and adults alike on the big screen. Consistently - and sometimes gratingly - anthropomorphised, there's much to like about the black and white, dinner-suited fish receptacles, who mate for life and show enormous dedication to their offspring. A basic re-skin of Sky's The Bachelor King, David Attenborough-narrated The Penguin King 3D (2012) now receives a theatrical release thanks to Sony's much-vaunted 4K technology.

Without a doubt, Sir David Attenborough is one of the many reasons we are proud to call ourselves British. Odd as that may sound, we all know it’s true. He has an instantly recognisable voice, and when the latest of his documentaries begins, we flock to our television screens and cannot get enough.
This year saw him narrating and presenting the incredibly popular seven-part Frozen Planet series, as well as Desert Seas, Attenborough and the Giant Egg, and the three-part series Madagascar.
His latest documentary, The Bachelor King 3D, airs tonight on Sky 3D, and is set to be an absolutely brilliant look at the story of the King Penguin and his search for love and a family. He’s been speaking to MSN about the project, and you can watch the interview with the man himself below.
