The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together for Chuck, who has taken to harassing Bree, first inside her home at night and later outside it during the day. He persists in showing her the picture of Alejandro and finally puts together the Oklahoma man's Ford Focus rental with the car Gaby and Bree were "dropping off" the day he pulled them over. Chuck thinks "something bad and permanent" happened to Alejandro and although he doesn't think Bree did it, he thinks one of her friends did and she's protecting them. As with her wout, Bree is steadfast in her defiance but breaks a little when he says he's going to talk to Gaby. She tells him to leave Gaby alone since Carlos is going through a hard time. He says he will for now. But this isn't the last we've seen of Chuck.
First up, other people's problems.
Speaking of Carlos. He's essentially become a layabout alcoholic, being sent home in taxis reeking of booze, having bad hangovers and generally being grumpy and in denial to what he is going through over the guilt of his accidental killing of Alejandro. Gaby goes into the office to sign payroll and is confronted by Carlos' secretary who says tne of their biggest clients is demanding to see him. Gaby, foolishly, tries to flirt with the man to get out of the situation until she is "saved" by a young account executive who smooth talks the moneybags into happiness. Alas, when she gets home that Carlos despises this young exec calling him a snake who is trying to poach clients so he won't be picking his contract up. Oops, too bad Gaby -- thinking he was her savior-- confided in him that Carlos doesn't have the flu but a drinking problem. She later heads back to the office to confront him. He's taking a meeting with the moneybags client and she castigates him and he then, because he is a snake, reveals to the client that Carlos has a drinking problem. The client wants to see him. Gaby takes him to the house and a disheveled Carlos is understandably upset. It turns out, however, that the client is also an alcoholic in recovery, sober 14 years and he wants to help get Carlos into rehab. Carlos reluntantly agrees, much to Gaby's relief.
At one point during this crisis, Bree goes to talk to Gaby about Chuck and what he is doing, but when she heard of the struggles with Carlos, she decides not to mention the real nature of his visit, instead saying he wanted to get back together and she declined.
Meanwhile, Lynette and Renee are working with a new client when Lynette realizes that the day is November 13, her 22nd wedding anniversary. She is distraught, incredibly unprofessionally, right in front of the client. The client tells her she has to fight for her marriage like she did. Lynettes asks what she did, and she says she changed-- her hairstyle, her wardrobe-- and her husband liked it and started to change too.
Lynette is heartened when she receives a lovely bouquet of roses from Tom signed "love always." She figures if he's still acknowledging their anniversary she's going to fight for her marriage. Her big plan to woo Tom back from hot doctor Jane is to put on a cute dress, curl her hair, and bring a bottle of Scotch to his apartment. Their tradition was that he would send flowers and she would buy him a bottle of scotch.
She arrives at the apartment, puts the Scotch down and then hears Tom and Jane enter so, naturally, she rolls under the bed. Just as their about to get busy she can't take it and announces her presence. Naturally they are aghast. Jane leave to give them privacy. Lynette tries to explain what she is doing there to a very angry Tom. When she gets to the flowers he is chagrined. Apparently on their 12th anniversary he forgot, so he placed a standing order with the florist. (Ouch.) He says he will cancel it. Lynette is gutted. He is sympathetic. He tells her hair looks nice.
Finally, Andre brings an art dealer into his class to appraise his students' work. The snobby little man dismisses everyone but is completely taken with Susan's work and likens it to a young Andre, who of course annoyed. But, he knows an opportunity when he sees one. The dealer wants to exhibit Susan's work which would reflect well on Andre. Susan of course doesn't want to show it (aware of the secret of them burying Alejandro will be made public). So Andre and the art dealer go behind her back and take her paintings from the classroom and hang them. They then invite her to the exhibit where she is flabbergasted to see her whole series: bloody candlestick, four women standing over a grave with a skeleton, and several skeleton with a headwound in the ground paintings hanging for all to see-- and it turns out-- very much admire.
Being the crazy klutz as always, Susan tries to take the paintings down but they are, of course, bolted to the wall. The snobby art dealer think she's doing a "crazy" shtick to create an even better story and says the paintings are only coming down when sold. (He doesn't realize that Susan's neurotic and crazy reaction is genuine). So Susan calls Gaby and Bree to come buy them. When they arrive they are, they are also predictably freaked out. Bree says they're not paintings but they're "illustrated confessions". Which is exactly what Chuck thinks when he suddenly shows up. When one person opines about the butchering of the middle class, Chuck observes that all he sees are four women who killed a man with a candlestick and dumped his body in the woods. Susan and Gaby are speechless, but the icy Bree keeps up her front claiming that the paintings are just a coincidence. Chuck leaves and both Gaby and Susan ask her at what is going on. Bree finally explains that Chuck has been investigating/stalking her over Alejandro's dissapearance and that he strongly suspects something, which stems from his grudge against her over their recent breakup. Gaby is furious that Bree didn't say anything the other day when she came over to visit. Bree (yet again), says she didn't want to distract Gaby from her own problems with Carlos and she's the only one keeping this whole thing together. Gaby stalks off and Susan angrily asks, "more secrets Bree?" Bree is now left all by herself with no friends at all to stand by her.
Bree goes home and due to the stress of what is happening, "falls off the wagon" when she takes out a bottle of wine and begins to drink it all down.
