Very odd
rebma-0825020 February 2023
The mother and daughter looked like sisters It wasn't realistic. In the beginning I was confused. And where is the child's father? I may have missed that

I would've been on the phone with the FBI or gone to the media. I would not have gotten a motel room just to wait. The mom was working with an Andy Griffith sheriff that didn't believe her. And really....why would he? I don't think the mom ever cried. Or showed she was scared out of her mind.

LMN surprised me. The mom didn't actually manhunt the killer or break into a home, end up running through the woods (although there's a woods scene) Or end up at a lake house.

Good movie but I hate the endings of lifetime movies
tapoonia27 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This does contain a spoiler but they already spoiled it when they put it in the description so it doesn't matter we all know the doctor did it because you told us!!

Why can't anyone do a lifetime movie and finish the movie. At the very end of every lifetime movie they always jump six months forward. I'd like to see the person that does the bad thing get arrested. Put the cuffs on them and put them in jail! Why can't they show that at the end of the movie!!

I have watched every lifetime movie there is an every movie they never finish it! Please finish the movie!! Also when you're describing the details of what the movies about in the description, please don't tell us who did it!! The ruins the fun of watching the movie in the first place. I read what the movie was about it said the doctor did it why would they put that in the description!

Please lifetime directors, finish your movies!!

Interesting story similar to "Into the Arms of Danger"
mja5829 August 2022
This is an above average LMN movie, but has a storyline that is really very similar to another LMN movie "Into the Arms of Danger".

Similarities:

1. Young woman ready to go college goes missing just before staring school.

2. Mother (parents) frantically search for her and go through all sorts of hurdles.

3. Police are of no help whatsoever (at first), and then they catch on.

Unique Points:

1. The Santa Claus-looking character that is an established "heavy" (where are his elves?)

2. The true perpetrators - some solid-gold screwballs that I did not expect.

If you saw "Into the Arms of Danger" and enjoyed it, you'll probably enjoy this.

It looks like the LMN group has a template that they reference when they make a move - this one is the girl ready to go to college goes missing and her parents try to find her.

6/10.

Unbelievably bad
phulla27 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Story Is Unbelievably Bad

The doctor and his wife believing they can replace their dead daughter by kidnapping another girl and convince or brain wash her to believe they are her parents.

Every character in the town is hostile

The translation of this story to film is terrible

The opening scene is terrible

The kidnap scene was terrible

The car scene was pathetic and terrible, the car was trying to undercut when there was plenty of space to overtake, and then there was a cut scene and the car chase was revived. Acting was horrendously terrible. How did this movie make any money.

The accident was filmed as though the cars belonged to the crew, what was supposed to a serious accident to have the mother hospitalised only caused a minor dent in the hood and fender and a minor dent in the rear of the other car.

I don't believe those who have given this a 10 are viewers, they must have worked on this movie or related or actual actors and crew because I've seen terrible movies better than this and I didn't review them more than 2/10 or 3/10.

This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I fast forward most of it and managed to watch the whole film in about 45 mins.

Unrealistic
orkneyislander30 August 2022
Formula plot with unrealistic scenarios. Average to below average acting with no likeable characters. The mother (Rhonda Dent) is actually only 3yrs older than her supposed 18yr old daughter (Kristina Paras) and it showed.

Totally unrealistic scenes such as the mother being allowed to wander all over an active murder scene stepping around the forensics team and handling everything in sight as she wanted to call by and feed the victim's cat!

For someone who was so bonded and obsessed with her daughter, it took her an unnaturally long time to enquire after her daughter's welfare when she (the mother) finally gained consciousness in hospital.

Laughable ending.

Can't understand the high ratings.

Movie on Valium
lstrath14 January 2024
Seriously, I hate to say it, but right away I could tell this was a movie stacked with Canadian actors.

Dont get me wrong there are some A list Canadians that I admire and know are brilliantly talented.

In the range of A to D list, these are all very clearly D list actors.

To be fair, the plot was incredibly weak and unrealistic, this may have given way to the emptiness , non emotional and disjointed plot lines.

It felt like the actors were reading a script and not living the character.

I hung in watching because its -40 below outside, forced to stay home... I was able to play solitair on my phone at the same time, win and watch.

That should say it all.

Big lies in a small town
coltras352 August 2023
Rhonda Dent stars as a mother who searches for her daughter, who goes missing after a car crash. Things get even more complicated as she discovers that many people died in mysterious circumstances following the car accident. She soon discovers a shocking possibility and needs to act quickly to get her daughter back.

This is a well-made thriller that benefits from some fine acting, especially by Rhonda Dent, who plays the mother role and is convincingly distressed and desperate to get her daughter back. It's sort of predictable halfway through in regards to who has abducted her daughter, though the why and wherefores isn't clear. There's a sense of foreboding and menace, thanks to the character and atmosphere.

Thank goodness for fast forward

OK, we don't expect afternoon movies to be good and this one didn't disappoint.

Stopping at a dilapidated petrol station in the middle of nowhere is never a good idea in this type of film, particularly when it's staffed by creepy guys straight from Zombie Central Casting.

Have the almost identical mother & daughter (apparently the actors are only a few years apart in age) not watched the right films?

The mother's behaviour over her daughter's unexplained disappearance is strange: waking up in hospital, "Where's my daughter?" Is not the first but the last question she asks before roaming empty corridors opening random doors.

(Stranger still that she's not asked for her credit card or health insurance to settle the bill before wandering off)

Local sheriff instantly dismisses everything she says, totally uninterested in her story.

In fairness, as the townsfolk all seem to be barking mad, maybe a stranger in town reporting a mysterious vanishing daughter is just one more item to be crossed off his to-do list.

Don't waste your time on this one.

Won't get that time back

Looking to watch a movie for a bit of entertainment and stumbled across this one.

Same old made for TV movie.

Predictable characters and fair acting.

The mother in the movie didn't seem that upset that her daughter was missing. I would have been frantic.

The suspect seemed obvious about half way through the movie.

Can't say that we really enjoyed it.

It was a way to pass some time but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The so called mother and daughter in the movie seemed a little too close in age for it to be believable.

Could have been thought out a bit better than it was .

A Sleepy Little Town Full of Menace
lavatch23 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Rachel Baker and her daughter Hannah have such a close bond that they each wear a bracelet inscribed with the words "All My Heart." That connection will be put to the test in this well-crafted thriller.

A major strength of the film was in the development of a set of truly creepy characters in a small town. There was a sense of menace behind almost every interaction of Rachel in her desperate search for her daughter.

One example of the depth and detail of the characters was in the secondary role of the waitress Kerry at the local diner. When a regular customer Mark whom Kerry has been dating attempts assist Rachel in the search for her daughter, Kerry becomes jealous. But her reaction transcends spite to include an element of mystery. There is a similar sinister element to Dr. Wilson, Sheriff Lester, and Gus the auto repairman, as well as the nefarious creature working at the convenience store.

There were especially effective film production values in the locations, camera angles, and a general aura of menace evoked in the small town. Despite the beautiful scenic environment, there was an overriding sense of danger in both the interior and outdoor environments.

When Rachel asserts to the sheriff that "I am not going anywhere until I find my daughter," she will be drawing on the experience she soaked up as the daughter of a cop. But she will be running a gauntlet that will indeed require "all my heart."

Fantastic movie
emilycraigyt26 August 2022
If you're looking for a great use of your time then big lies in a small town is the way to go. I recently watched this movie and to put it plainly, it was like watching a seal run. A totally stunning experience.

Directed by Danny Boyle, big lies in a small town told a completely brilliant story.

Big lies in a small town is a true story movie about characters who embark on a journey of real life. Despite the obstacles, big and small, the characters in the movie, as well as the viewers, still meet a great end. The performances from the main actors illustrate the narrative of this movie with such a viable effort. Consequently, this film ended up being as fantastic as it is.

Big lies in a small town intertwined visuals, audio, and plot in a very stunning way.

It was as if movie director combined the characters, the setting, and the valued objects within the film and then threw them into a mixing bowl to create a giant serving of great tomato. As a viewer, chewing and pondering on the quality of my tomato, I couldn't help but think about how sweet it tasted. The flavors of the film blended so great-ly that I considered getting a bird for emotional support!

This story of real life is a triumphant effort on movie director's part in making viewers weep with joy.

Overall, I found big lies in a small town to be stunning, brilliant, and fantastic! It is a great plate of tomato, seasoned with the theme of real life, and sure to leave you with a lingering sweet taste in your mouth.

Rating: 10/10.

Quite good, really!
Chartreuse127 August 2022
Rachel who's a single mom and Hannah, her daughter, are out in the middle of no man's land when they are ambushed on the highway by someone trying to run them off the road!

There's a crash and Rachel's in the hospital while Hannah turns up MISSING! Rachel is frantic and goes to the sheriff who does not quite believe her story since she or her belongings were in the car when it was recovered and turned into a repair shop. Of course, the shop owner, Gus, doesn't know anything. Right.... What happens after that, is quite a tale of twists and turns. What happened to Hannah, who kidnapped her, and why?

This is quite a good mystery headlined by a strong Canadian cast and a great script. Worth the watch and HIGHLY recommended!
