A biopic about the life of the late “Saturday Night Live” star Chris Farley is in the works, IndieWire has confirmed.
Emmy-winner Paul Walter Hauser is attached to star as Farley, and Josh Gad would direct the project. “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels is producing the feature biopic via his Broadway Video production banner. Gad, the Broadway star and “Frozen” actor, would make his feature directorial debut on the film.
Right now the project is just at the package stage and being presented to interested buyers looking to make it, but it surely will be an in-demand package that could go quickly and make this movie a reality sooner rather than later. It also helps that the Farley family has given its blessing to the project.
The currently untitled film is based on “The Chris Farley Show: A Biography In Three Acts” written by Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby that...

Chémi Pérez and Joel Cazorla of Spain’s Cabo Sur Films is teaming with Lucía Flórez and her Peru-based production company, El Taller.pe to produce the feature-length documentary “Ever and the Sharks” (“El niño y el tiburón”).
Boasting prior social impact and environmental work, they’re gearing up to present the project at Locarno’s upcoming Match Me! networking forum, unspooling Aug. 4-6.
The team is working with leading marine biologist Alejandra Mendoza Pfenning and her Ngo, EcOceana, who have just received a generous donation allowing them to geotag whale sharks off the Peruvian coast for the first time. Currently prioritizing private fundraising, the filmmakers hope to capture this milestone for the documentary during this year’s “El Niño” phenomenon, set to bring an influx of whale sharks to the region.

San Sebastian: Local films secure best-ever box office share of 23.6%.
Spanish films have scored their best ever slice of the local box office, recording a 23.6% share.
This success is partly due to major domestic hits including Emilio Martinez Lazaro’s Spanish Affair, which has grossed a staggering $73.9m box office, and Daniel Monzon’s El Niño, which has drawn $15.3m to date.
The share could grow to 25% by year end, according to Spanish producer’s association Fapae.
This further growth is expected from upcoming films such as Alberto Rodriguez’s San Sebastian competition title Marshland; hit franchises Torrente 5, from Santiago Segura, and Rec 4: Apocalypse, from Jaume Balaguero; and comic adaptation Mortadelo & Filemón: Mission Implausible .
But despite the success, the Spanish film industry has continued to struggle.
Ramon Colom, president of Fapae, told Screen: “There is a paradox. Spanish films have never been so successful. The backing of Spanish TV networks has been key to this success...
