Snoop Dogg has canceled his pair of “Doggystyle” 30th anniversary Hollywood Bowl concerts amidst the ongoing strikes from the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild, the rapper announced Tuesday.
“We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show,” Snoop wrote in an Instagram statement. “We continue to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the WGA and SAG-AFTRA during this difficult time and remain hopeful that the AMPTP will come back to the negotiating table with a real proposal and we can all get back to work.”
The “Drop It Like Its Hot” singer first rescheduled the concerts with Dr. Dre, originally set for June 27 and June 28, to Oct. 20 and Oct. 21. He posted a video announcing that decision on June 2, a month after the WGA first went on strike.

Dr. Dre has revealed why he turned down opportunities to work with fellow legends like Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder. While appearing on a recent episode of Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show Hart to Heart, the producer said he “bowed out” of the collaborations because he didn’t want to tarnish how he felt about them as artists.
“They just asked me to work with them and I just was like, ‘What the fuck am I going to do with them?'” Dre told Hart after being asked whether he had any regrets. He elaborated that he didn’t want to affect “the way I feel about Stevie, Prince, Michael, Bruce Springsteen, and all of these amazing artists,” which “could change by working with them.”
“These are my fucking heroes,” he said. “I like the idea of what I grew up listening to and I want to keep it like that.

Imagine walking into a restaurant and seeing Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, and Dr. Dre eating dinner together. Such was the case at The River Café in Hammersmith, England, where fans saw the trio dining after Macca and Dr. Dre caught The Boss’ recent show at London’s Hyde Park.
It may seem like an unlikely pairing, but Dre and McCartney have been friends for a while. In 2021, the rapper posted a photo of the two together, looking delighted to be in the Beatle’s company. “Here with one of my heroes!!,” he said at the time. “Paul McCartney is cool Af!! I’m chillin with one of the fucking Beatles!!”
McCartney and Springsteen go way back as well — even if the former blames the latter for causing music fans to expect four-hour, marathon concerts. Last year, the two sang “Glory Days” and “I Wanna Be Your Man” together when McCartney...

"Your daddy started something very important..." Welcome Villain has unveiled the official trailer for an indie horror film titled Malum, arriving in theaters only at the end of March. This is actually a new remake of the 2014 horror film Last Shift, made by the same filmmaker updating his own film, similar to the way Sam Raimi made Evil Dead 1 & 2. Helmed by director Anthony Diblasi and co-written by Diblasi and Scott Poiley, Malum re-imagines the original critically-acclaimed horror hit from the festival circuit and expands on the filmmaker's vision of nightmare-inducing terror. A rookie police officer willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station in an attempt to uncover the mysterious connection between her police officer father's death and a vicious cult. This updated film stars Jessica Sula as Jessica Loren, with Kevin Wayne, Monroe Cline, Candice Coke, Valerie Loo, Clarke Wolfe, Natalie Victoria. This does look pretty freaky.

"A mind is a terrible thing to break." Dread Central Presents has released the official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Extremity, the latest feature from director Anthony Diblasi. Extremity plays with the popular modern horror concept of "extreme haunts", or experiences horror fans can pay for that put them in horrific, torturous situations. The plot follows a young woman obsessed with horror who subjects herself to hours of grueling torment inside an extreme haunt in an attempt to confront her fears and conquer the tragic past that haunts her. Starring Dana Christina, J. Larose, Cam Damage, September D'Angelo, Felissa Rose, Tiffany Shepis, Chad Rook, Michael St. Michaels, Natalie Victoria, and Ricky Dean Logan. I wasn't even sure if I should post this, but it just looks so crazy with some seriously freaky imagery, I couldn't help it. You hve to see all this for yourself. Here's the first...

The second Cthulhu figure in a three-part series from Warpo will be available this fall. Also: a trailer for The Inhabitants, first details on IFC Midnight's acquisition of Cabin Fever, El Rey Network's Stephen King marathon, and Last Shift on Blu-ray.
Warpo's Cthulhu Figure Series: Press Release: "Chicago, Il (September 9, 2015): Warpo, creators of the Legends of Cthulhu action figures, today released part two of three of Cthulhu: The Great Old One, their retro commercial series for the forthcoming 12” Cthulhu figure.
In keeping with the company’s method manufacturing, the process of development by which Team Warpo creates everything with the mindset and methods of the late 1970s to mid-1980s, the commercial series was created with the look and feel of being an “uploaded artifact” from the era – a rip from an old VHS tape that was used over and over again to capture storylines for the sandbox adventures of childhood.

I thought that writer/director Anthony Diblasi had given up on the horror genre after he chose to helm Wuthering High School – a teen movie, more accurately a TV movie, take on the classic novel – and to be fair I thought it wouldn’t be much of a loss. You see, beyond his first film Dread, which was based on the short story of the same name by Clive Barker, I have pretty much disliked every movie he has made, including his two of his previous Frightfest-screened movies, Cassadaga and Missionary. However… and here’s where I eat my words (and my razor-edged hat if needs be) he hits it out of the park with Most Likely to Die.

Psychological thrillers — especially those dealing with jilted lovers or obsessed stalkers — have a long history in modern cinema, and more often than not it’s the woman who snaps and resorts to violence, threats and bunny boiling to get “her” man back. Fatal Attraction is the most famous example, but there are many similar films that show us a weak-willed man who slips (into another woman) only to realize too late that he’s made a serious mistake. When women are stalked in movies it’s typically by strangers or men they have only the most casual of acquaintances with, but while all of this adds up to some interesting observations on gender politics in film we have a movie to discuss. Missionary flips that convention on its head by allowing the woman to make the sexual misstep that triggers a young man’s possessive rage, but while many of the story beats that follow still tread...

The FrightFest All-Nighter 14 returns to its spiritual home, The Prince Charles Cinema, on Saturday October 25th, with five killer titles, including the world premiere of Anthony Diblasi’s Last Shift.
The evening kicks off with a special preview of The Vicious Brothers Extraterrestrial, a fine blend of Close Encounters and Communion with “some of the most extraordinary special effects and camerawork you’ll see in 2015″. Next up, The ABC’s of Death 2 needs no introduction. The first was a huge draw at FrightFest Glasgow and now attendees can scream along to 26 more deaths by 26 handpicked filmmakers. This is followed by the world premiere of Anthony Diblasi’s demonic horror Last Shift, which had to be dropped from the August line-up because of altered release and completion dates as did the next film – the highly anticipated sequel The Pact II, which has its UK premiere. Well, 2013 has come and gone and it was a pretty darned good year for horror, both at the theaters, as well as on TV with more horror television programming than ever and the exponential growth of VOD releases. This year may have just started, but 2014 doesn't show any signs of slowing down in terms of genre offerings. Alyse has got you covered with Four New TV Shows We Can't Wait For. How 'bout we take a look at feature length movies due out this year? Get your calendars out and let's break down some of the most anticipated horror titles arriving later this year.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (Jan 3rd)
We may have missed out on getting another 'Paranormal Activity' film last Halloween, but Blumhouse is wasting no time this year as the Latino-centric spin-off film 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' is now playing in theaters as of today!

A few days ago we offered up our best horror films of 2013 -- although truth be told the list was written by me and I'm not the only horror freak at FEARnet -- but we thought it would be helpful to highlight some interesting horror movies on their way in 2014. Plus it's a great way to get some new readers on reviews we published months ago. (What? It's true!) We'll start with the ones I've actually seen, logically, and finish up with an exceedingly long listing of currently scheduled titles. We're thorough about horror films here at FEARnet. Happy New Year!
Note: whereas the previous Top 12 was "ranked," this one is what's called "alphabetical." You'll simply have to read the review to see what we think. Isn't that sneaky?

Some of the results will make you laugh. Some will make you shiver... and some, well some are just too funny for words. It should be clear by now to those who pay attention to independent horror cinema that Anthony Diblasi likes to jump across different sub-genres. As the director of Dread and a producer on The Midnight Meat Train, the guy has helped to bring two very solid Clive Barker adaptations to life, and while Mr. Diblasi's upcoming thriller Missionary is a decent but conventional romantic thriller, his new-to-dvd horror mash-up Cassadaga is certainly colorful enough to warrant some exploration. Sort of an old-fashioned mystery premise with a nastily effective slasher flick subplot and a plot construction that feels like it fell directly out of a 1987 giallo film, Cassadaga is about a young deaf woman who travels to an isolated art college after losing her little sister in a freak accident. Despite the kindness of her sweet and pot-lovin' landlady Claire (Louise Fletcher), poor Lily (Kelen Coleman) is, of course, pretty miserable...

Despite a late night, I rolled up to the Empire at early o clock in order to make sure I got a seat for the midnight movie Willow Creek, which had sold out the day before. Fortunately, the organisers had the wherewithal to move the film into a bigger auditorium for Sunday. Being there good and early meant I was well in time to catch Missionary (Anthony Diblasi). Frightfest doesn’t exclusively screen horror films and Missionary is a well-judged and atmospheric thriller that begins life as a sort of family drama before events begin to turn more and more sinister.
We’re introduced to single mum and son Katherine and Kesley Kingsmen (Dawn Oliveri and Connor Christie) who seem to be getting by whilst trying to reintroduce estranged father Ian (Kip Pardue) back into the family unit. A pair of Mormon missionaries call by one day and the...

Despite having seen both of Anthony Diblasi’s previous films, Dread and Cassadaga, on the big screen at Frightfest, it’s safe to say I’m not the biggest fan of his work – his two prior movies were, at least for me, very much middle-of-the-road efforts that did nothing to surprise or excite. So going into Missionary I’ll be brutally honest and say that I wasn’t really expecting much.
The film tells the story of single mum Katharine Kingsmen, who’s having a hard time raising her son Kesley on her own. So when two Mormon missionaries arrive at the door to preach the gospel, she doesn’t see any harm in them playing football with him. But for Elder Brock it’s the prelude to a...

In today’s modern, self-declared sophisticated age people in the Western world seem to consider it fashionable not merely to proclaim that theological principles do not dictate their lives, but to openly scoff at the very notion of practicing religion. That said, applying the word of an all powerful deity to better oneself most certainly does not sound like a laughing matter and probably is not for the actual people who embrace the concept.
