A Fun Romp in Competitive Dance
linda-azab-powell2 January 2015
This is a fun romp through the world of competitive dance...with some talented dancers and a very entertaining story line (shy nerd thrown into the spotlight, with a beautiful woman and the chance to make his mark in a big way). There is some good tech stuff too, and the characters are earnest and fun to watch! One can recognize easily these as prototypes of those seen on actual dance reality shows. It is also interesting to see the characters evolve, and for me, I enjoyed the locale as it was filmed mostly in and around San Francisco, and we all know that San Francisco is watchable, to say the least. There are some unexpected scenes. You might find yourself laughing out loud, as I did! If you are looking for something to just enjoy, this could be for you.

Watch Twice
kshermy25 January 2015
From the first view this movie is satisfying as a good parody and funny enough to keep you and the audience laughing out loud.

But this movie is more than a simple comedy. Buried in an ugly duckling story we have a highly motivated underdog struggling to win over the dance judges and vast TV viewing audience. There is family honor to redeem but more important is the dream of wining a beautiful and fascinating woman.

The second view is a nice time to enjoy the audience reaction and to let the many over-the-top characters and innuendos sink in.

Visually pleasing, nicely constructed and acted. Pretty much a must watch for anyone that has been watching 'Dancing With the Stars' or other competitive dance events.

Clever witty fast paced parody - unexpected plot twists - very funny- animation- dance
suziestudio2 January 2015
I was laughing nonstop throughout this movie. The closest genre I can think of in terms of the type of humor and dance scenes is "Strictly Ballroom", but its fast paced edits from scene to scene and use of special effects really are a new genre that I have never seen before - very memorable. It makes fun of almost all of the reality TV shows out there and has tons of references to famous movie scenes that go by quickly if you are not paying attention. You root for the underdog and the bad guys are bad. The humor is goofy, often off color, never mean- spirited. The plot line has so many unexpected twists, you can never predict what will happen next. Very clever writing. I like that it plays with stereotypical characters- giving each some totally unexpected dimension. Saw it twice in the theaters and will go see it again. Funniest comedy I have seen in quite a few years.

'Dancing with the Stars' meets 'Strictly Ballroom'
toddtall2 January 2015
First time directer, producer Tytus Bergstrum made some sweet music, i.e. Reality TV Movie, with an inexperienced cast.

I delighted in the characters: The hostess with the mostest expressive cocaine inspired face. Mia Favor's entrance and demonstrations! Maximus the maxinarcisist; The judges spoofing of 'stars' and 'so you think you can dance' judges. Lollypop's dance moves and ameri-Asian moves.

From the strong characters flowed relationships.

The film starts slowly then builds.

It is much needed satire of the 2 dance reality TV shows (DwS and SYTYCD), spoofing many cultural icons along the way. What fun!

Highly entertaining!!!

Having no expectations going into this movie, as I knew this was the first big screen movie by this director/actor, I surprisingly found myself laughing throughout the entire movie!! A lot of these actors were not holding back anything and gave it 110% in order to achieve their goals of making the characters shine. As an audience, I really appreciated it! I also enjoyed the great dancing skills displayed by these immature actors, who are professional ballroom dancers. Way to make fun of those reality dancing shows :) There is room to improve this movie, of course, but the self taught computer graphics by the director was quite impressive! I highly recommend this movie! And I look forward to seeing their future movies!

Funny and Entertaining

Going into the film, all I knew was that this was a comedy. I also went to watch this film with an open mind and the expectation that it was going to be funny. I found myself laughing thought-out the film. Afterwards I had a chance to meet the director and some of the actors of this film. They were all very nice and I had the opportunity to let them know that I had a really enjoyed the fruits of their labor in making this film. I was impressed that this film was made by a person who was self taught in the art of film making. I really had a good time taking part in the premiere showing of this film. This film was truly funny and entertaining.

Great Movie Lots of Fun
mrq_ball23 January 2015
This was a great movie. I just had lots of fun watching it. It was great to see Tytus transformed into a great dancer. And Li Wen accent was very authentic. Of course the cast of characters was Oscar winning. You'll have a great time watching this movie. Its a must see.

Tytus and Li Wen have been teaching dance at Allegro for many years. So we also got an opportunity to see some of their great dance moves. I can't recommend the movie enough. A real winner. Go see this movie. You must see this movie. You will see this movie. In addition to the above there were a cast of bad guys who made the movie a lot of fun. Not only men but women as well.

Don't miss this one!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and laughed throughout each time I saw it, often smiling at subtle things I had previously overlooked. Reality TV Movie is a very clever and humorous creation and mosaic that encompasses many themes, steps outside of them, and targets those themes with hyperbole that will take the viewer for a very fun ride..... dance elegance, competition, fair play, good sportsmanship, subjective judging, inspiration, fan fare, media obsession and character personalities to name a few. It's easy to love this film, especially if you are a DWTS fan. It was hard to select a favorite aspect of this film, but I keep coming back to Lolli Pop's wonderful facial expressions, which said it all! Carried the enjoyment of the film and the wellbeing of laughter with me long after the movie was over!

Must See Movie
dkcheung1331 January 2015
I have watched the movie twice. The first time, I thought it was entertaining and hilarious but I also felt that certain characters were a bit over the top. What compelled me to see it the second time was the underlying story of the main character, Bergie Barnsworth, a man with low self-esteem who, through dance, found the motivation to make his dreams come true. My understanding is that this was Tytus Bergstrom's first big screen production. He does an excellent job portraying the main character. Bergie Barnsworth comes across as a genuine struggler who has the misfortune to be surrounded with negative people who constantly belittle him. He feels as if he is nobody, and then one day, realizes he has a chance to dance with the woman of his dreams if he has the courage to try something new and the commitment to stick with it. The transformation is slow and at times painful, but he manages to overcome many obstacles to achieve his goals. The movie is funny but also has a serious side. Both Tytus Bergstrom and LiWen Ang are outstanding dancers and there are many other fabulous dancers in the movie; in particular, the final dancing scene is incredible. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I look forward to seeing Tytus Bergstrom's next production. A must see movie for dancers and for those who want a good laugh.
