Ade Edmondson has revealed to Digital Spy his reasons for abandoning a revival of Bottom with comedy partner Rik Mayall.
In 2012, the duo announced that they would be reuniting for Bottom spinoff Hooligan's Island, a six-part sitcom for BBC Two.
However, later in the year Edmondson pulled out of the project after only writing two episodes.
Speaking to Digital Spy about the failed reunion with Mayall, Edmondson said: "I kind of got railroaded into it. And then I decided after we'd written two that I didn't want to do it. For complex reasons.
"Mostly, because I thought it was a backwards step. Secondly, because I've already done that. There's too much else to do in life. My other passions in life are stronger."
He continued: "My main passion in life is my band the Bad Shepherds. That's never going to achieve the same success as Bottom, but it's what I want to do.
