This was the first episode of Criminal Minds: Evolution where it really felt like a letdown. Not bad at all, but this felt exactly like the version of the show we would see on CBS and not anything unique to Paramount+ or edgier like we had been getting the first two weeks.
What we are seeing is a show that is working and that knows the procedural format better than a lot of its competitors, but the grittiness was not there tonight. The only thing that really stood out was the kind of cool and definitely clever use of facepaint makeup to purposely blur the faces in the security cameras at the homes.
