It was better without the personal lives and issues

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best things about Criminal Minds was how the agents personal lives were always kept separate for the most part and the focus was on the job and unsub. Now we have all the personal lives and relationship boxes checked down the line.

It's distracting and sometimes annoying. Frankly some of the time it just stressed me out thinking they were foreshadowing about killing JJ's kids or husband and I forgot who they were hunting.

I don't need that on top of the serial killer story.

If it ain't broke!? Stick with the cases and the job!

The only personal story I felt was needed was Rossi's wife and the grief because that played into his survival.

Otherwise , keep the focus on the unsub's personal lives and why they do what they do. It was glossed over so much because we're focusing on the wrong people. I thought the concept was good and I am happy to see Garcia back but, again, I don't need to see her getting it on now......

I can't wait for season 17!

Warning: Spoilers
It was so good to see Criminal Minds back, and I have to say season 16 was really good. But with all the build up throughout the season I think that final episode could have been better than it was. I just found it a little disappointing after such a promising season.

The final part of the episode was very intriguing, I can't wait to see what happens in season 17. I'm intrigued to know what this "Gold Star" is all about, and who walked in the room to see Elias at the end of the episode. I'm wondering if season 17's storyline is going to continue on from season 16. Maybe Elias wasn't at the top of this serial killer network. I'm wondering if someone connected to the government is the real person that controls everything. I have a sneaky suspicion that we won't see who walked in that room just yet. I'm wondering if they will find a way to conceal themselves, and Elias will be killed by whoever it is at the start of season 17. In the serial killer network the first rule is, if they think they are going to be caught, or they do get caught they kill themselves immediately. Elias never did that, so maybe whoever walked in that room is going to kill Elias because they don't want anything to be revealed. It's just my opinion.

I am curious about "Gold Star" and about what's going to happen next season.

Please bring back Dr Spencer Reid for season 17, I really missed seeing him in this season. It just doesn't seem right with him.

I can't wait for the next season, thank you for season 16. I love Criminal Minds Evolution so much!!

Gold Star

So we have our finale for S16.

Off the bat it was decent, honestly nothing much made it stand out, it lagged behind in the intensity compared to other seasons but I guess that was them not knowing if S17 would be green lit but still it was a little lack lustre for my taste.

The season has had some great episodes, this one not as strong, that doesn't mean it's bad I just don't think there was a lot there.

Again like episode 9 Rossi was the best character I'm the episode, battening with Elias to escape the bunker.

The last 15 odd minutes is where something actually happened that I found interesting.

There is a new mystery for S17 and I hope it's good because it could fall down the rabbit hole of being really slow pace, if that's the case it better be true detective level of story telling Because slow pace and not much pay off EVERY episode not just the end can be extremely boring BUT I do have a lot of faith in the show runners because the season as a whole has been very strong and one of the more exciting and enjoyable seasons in recent years, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY, hopefully the next season hits the magic formula again and stays under 13 episodes, the sweet spot,

Decent episode but strong season, Ep 10 is a 7/10 while I give s16 a solid 8/10.

Dead End

Warning: Spoilers
Overall I would call Criminal Minds: Evolution a success. We are glad to have the show back and it seemed like it fit into the world of streaming quite well (aka it used a lot of curse words).

But they need to figure out how to tell a good story for an entire season. This was only a handful of episodes and clearly the last few got completely off the rails. It got boring at times and it just made less and less sense. They tracked down a serial killer of many many victims and all they could do was have Rossi chase his wife around a grocery store?

Okay finale, but figure out a way to bring logic to the show.

An extremely flat finale :(
christianravn9 February 2023
This finale was everything I knew it would be. And that's a damn shame :(

From watching episode 9 I knew the finale would feel like episode 9 did: Detached, flat and perhaps derailed story wise.

There were never really a sense of urgency. The stakes didn't feel high and there wasn't really a payoff.

Shouldn't the viewer get a form of payoff from a finale? I mean sure there can still be a cliffhanger that it ends on. A "to be continued" sure but there's nothing here. Like opening an empty container..

Instead of focusing on the BAU doing what the BAU does. This turned into a bureaucratic cloak and dagger thing last minute?....Why?!

Why wasn't this what it was hyped to be? The BAU vs an Apex Predator serial killer...

I'm sure a following season can be amazing, but why couldn't this finale be as well...??

Frustrating
ian-86411 February 2023
So I've been a big fan since season 1 and I still am, but it's so annoying to have the entire season dedicated to a single plot line. I miss the old days when each episode was a separate story and was concluded at the end of the episode. I find the long story arc wearing and, I have to say, a little boring. Here's hoping that the next season picks up the pace and gets back to the roots that made the show great.

The single plot line across an entire season forces a slower pacing and the tension and energy of the story suffers as a result. Now that the show is down some major characters, this lack of pace is amplified and becomes quite tiresome - even a chore to some extent.
