Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • The player fights off infected zombies with a slew of different weapons, including a cricket bat, various firearms and explosive and incendiary tools. Attacks with guns and the bat cause blood to spurt from the infected, limbs being blown cleanly away and enough damage taken will kill them. The best endgame situation is to destroy the head, which is usually whittled down with numerous blows and shots until it explodes in a small morass of gore. Up-close attacks will cover the player's hands and weapon with blood and, if the player is close enough, cause gore to splatter onto his/her field of vision (this is not a permanent effect; it will fade when enough time has passed)
  • Various depictions of bloodshed and death litter the game's locations.

Profanity

  • Mild to strong cursing on occasion; "fuck" is the worst offender.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Ron Freedman was having a party in his flat complete with cases of "English Beer". No beer is seen consumed, though.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire game is based on a horror scenario; the dark and bleak atmosphere, mixed with sudden jump scares, haunting musical scores and the severity of the enemy, gives the player a very real sense of dread and fear while playing (and that's the point).
  • The zombies, even singular ones, are monstrous foes; they constantly let out horrifically guttural screams, made all the more abhorrent when they spot and advance on the player.
  • The playable characters are simple civilian survivors of the plague rather than rough and tumble heroic types, and as such they are unprepared to deal with the infection and the zombies therein. When dealing with zombies nearby, the character will breathe heavily and make soft, frightened sounds, evidence of their fear. If he or she use the cricket bat when fighting a zombie, he/she will scream louder and more desperately with each successive blow until the zombie is killed, in which he/she will slowly calm down from his/her frazzled and scared state.
  • Sudden situations where the player is completely surrounded and/or outnumbered by zombies ups the tension considerably.
  • All in all, this is a very tense and scary game.
