Out lesbian entertainers Wanda Sykes and Portia de Rossi will lend their voices to a very special episode of Disney Junior’s “Doc McStuffins,” playing two lesbian moms.
GLAAD confirmed the news at a panel titled “Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Trends on TV Today” at the Television Critics Association press tour. Sykes is no stranger to children’s television, having signed on to play a recurring role on “Vampirina,” the newest show from “Doc McStuffins” creator Chris Nee. De Rossi recently voiced a character on the less family-friendly “Family Guy.”
The series follows Dottie “Doc” McStuffins, who wants to be a doctor, just like her mother. Using her magic stethoscope, she is able to bring her toys and stuffed animals to life, and practice her healing skills on their ailments. She gives them check-ups and diagnoses them from her “Big Book of Boo Boos.” Each episode includes original music, and...

Has MSNBC cancelled the Melissa Harris-Perry TV show, or is the host pulling the plug on her weekend talk show? Right now, it looks like a little bit of both. The network keeps preempting the program for live election coverage. Now, Perry has refused to read news for MSNBC during these preemptions and is speaking out to her staff on Medium, via friend and former show producer, Jamil Smith, an MTV News Senior National Correspondent.
Usually, the possible cancellation of a news or talk show would not rate at TV Series Finale, because what we are after here is closure -- some sort of resolution for the viewing audience. That is not typically an issue where news or talk shows are concerned. It is one, though, in this case. One of the reasons Harris-Perry is speaking...

In honor of last night Game of Thrones finale, TV Guide lists 16 important TV moments that happened on a toilet. (Spoiler warning, the reason why Game of Thrones is on the list is explained.)
There was a special guest star in this week’s Orphan Black. Midwife Alexis was played by Kathryn Alexandre, who also functions as Tatiana Maslany‘s double. Series co-creator John Fawcett talked with EW and said that wasn’t the first role they considered for Alexandre. “Back at the beginning of the Season 1 asked her to come in and read for Gracie and then we kind of realized that part was just a little too big to cast Kathryn because there was interaction between Gracie and Helena and that was just going to turn into a mess if we cast her. So we were looking for a smaller part that we could give her to get her on camera.

Mitt Romney and Melissa Harris-Perry have demonstrated what common decency looks like on political television. In a sadly shocking twist, Harris-Perry has apologized for making a joke at the expense of Romney's grandson, Kieran, and Romney has graciously accepted the apology.

In the photo, Romney's adopted grandson, Kieran, was noted as being the only African-American in the large group picture.

If the May upfront presentations are like Christmas for me, this week is the one when kids watch every package to come out of the car trunk, looking for clues to what thrills will be discovered under the tree. Though celebrities and members of the media gathered to attend the 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner, the annual event was just one of the many parties to stop by over the weekend.
Like last year, the media's finest gathered to kick off the weekend at The New Yorker's annual party and the People/Time cocktail reception on the eve of the White House Correspondents' Dinner. By Saturday, media stars and celebrities mingled at the annual cocktail reception co-hosted by CBS News, Atlantic Media, the Atlantic and National Journal before the dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Stars including Kevin Spacey, Claire Danes and José Andrés chatted with CBS News' Bob Schieffer, Scott Pelley and more.
Time, CNN, People and Fortune also co-hosted a pre-dinner cocktail reception. Fortune's guests included John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Time invited Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Hall, Gabby Douglas, Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren,...

The segment was taped during last weekend's episode of Melissa Harris-Perry. I'm sure many of you have already...

With Tamron Hall on NewsNation, Al Sharpton on PoliticsNation and Melissa Harris-Perry on weekend mornings, MSNBC is one of the more racially diverse cable networks on television. But that diversity does not extend to the network's primetime lineup. HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill asked another of MSNBC's African-American host Touré to offer his insight on why that might be.

The storytelling on The Walking Dead has more than its share of problems, but the Av Club says the zombie drama succeeds by being one of the few shows that's a memento mori, a drama that functions as a stark reminder of the inevitability of death.
TVLine reports that Marina Sirtis, the former Councilor Troi, has joined NCIS as the new director of the Mossad (the last one died a few months back).

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry weighed in on the controversy surrounding President Barack Obama’s lack of women and minorities in high ranking positions in his second term Cabinet. She told MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts that, while Obama’s inner circle is dominated by white men, the president is likely to surround himself with people with diverse views and opinions. She justified this by saying that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for example, does not hold views that are representative of “the vast majority” of African-Americans.
