I hate this show. So much.

Let me rephrase that. I hate how connected I've gotten to this show. I find myself caring WAYYYYY too much for these people. All without dialogue. It's a masterwork in "Show, don't tell" and it is done perfectly. Even the weird episode we got a couple weeks ago about the "Primal Theory" was good. Not as good but still entertaining. After being introduced to this show through a random commercial on YouTube, I'm so happy I decided to actually sit down and watch it. I find myself going through the week looking forward to the next time I can watch this show. And then this episode hits. I hate it. Probably one of the best episodes yet. But the ending frustrates me. I can't believe I have to wait another week for the resolution. Tartakovsky is a genius. A diabolical man who plays with my emotions. But a genius still. Looking forward to the Adventures of Spear and Fang next week.

Fantastic Episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was fantastic to me because of it's amazing scenes and exhilarating moments. I love how in the beginning we get a very foreboding preview as to what is coming with the viking and his new supernatural powers, and how it really does it's job in showing us how much stronger the viking has become, with his skin being hot enough to turn the river water to steam. Right after that, we see him start heading in what's most likely Spear's direction somehow, and with a giant plume of smoke following him. Next we get see Spear and Fang in their numerous battles they are being forced to fight for the Queen. One thing I really liked about this part was that it re-used the animations of the crew fighting various different armies and showed how repetitive and brain-numbing it was getting for them- Just set foot on the island, kill everyone, and leave. Another good scene comes shortly thereafter, when the Colossaeus arrives on an island where the people already know the Queen's capabilities and just surrender. Instead of wanting to fight they just offer resources and bow down to the Queen. I was on the edge of my seat when the Queen walked back to the ship and decided to tell Kamau to kill them all. I started to feel pitiful for him when he brought back the baskets of food and dumped them at her feet, and yet she still refused to just take it and leave in peace. All this Queen wants is blood, and this scene proves that. When she went and forced him to go and kill the islanders, it evoked some serious disgust in me, like I seriously wanted to see her dead then and there. Also, when she killed the rival ship captain with her own hands, it showed that not only was she full of blood lust, but that she also was not afraid to get her own hands dirty at all. The final scene of the episode, where Spear has escaped his cage and is trying to take away the Queen's leverage against him, Fang, and Kamau, is filled with pure anticipation. While all of this scene was going down with Spear, Mira, Kamau's daughter, and Fang's eggs, one thing that I just did not anticipate was the eggs hatching. These babies being born at such a bad moment had me feeling extremely worried as to what was coming. Kamau hears Fang's children cry out for her, and when she breaks out he is reminded of his daughter, motivating him to follow. The bad part is it all ends up being just too late. As soon as Fang's up, the Queen has her hands on the babies and Kamau has to watch from the shadows as his daughter is put right back into the clutches of the Queen. The ending to this episode was incredibly suspenseful, and I honestly loved every second of the episode. I personally think it's 'Red Mist' level.

An actually pretty good episode with fewer problems than the average primal episode

Warning: Spoilers
Even though I have hated this season and this show in general, I can admit that this was an enjoyable episode. My favorite scene was probably when the big guy slave (sorry idk his name) finally snapped after his endless suffering and started killing everyone. I like that even though this guy killed one of fang's eggs, the show still tried to make us sympathize with him and show that he's a tortured individual who is just trying to do whatever it takes to keep his son alive, just like how spear and fang will kill hundreds of people just to keep fang's eggs alive.

This episode wasn't perfect though. It still suffers from some bad writing. Spear escaping from his cell was a bit convenient and a lazy way to have him save the others. Also, fang's just able to break through her cell in just one second? Man, the security system is really weak. I guess the writers needed spear and fang to escape from their cells somehow, but this just felt like the laziest way to go about it.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but the cliffhanger actually scared me. Normally the cliffhangers in this show are dumb because you know that everyone is going to live. But now, knowing that season 2 is the last season and there's only 2 episodes left, I don't think anyone is safe. Although maybe I'm getting my hopes up. Knowing this show, everyone's gonna come out of this alive. I really hope my last sentence ages badly, please prove me wrong writers!

Anyway, I know some of the diehard fans will think a 6/10 is low, but for me it's a good score for this show. This was probably the 2nd best episode of the series after coven of the damned. That's still the only episode of the show I consider to be really good, but this one I still liked. Thanks for reading.

Genuinely disappointed in this episode. Suddenly we're supposed to believe that a 98 Pound showgirl can outfight Spear.

Not believable. Not plausible.

How many times has spear fought single-handed against 100 armed men (and sometimes monkeys)? And suddenly a little Mary Sue is able to outfight him one-on-one?

It's an insult to the audience and an insult to the character.

This could have been handled much better. She's a leader she should have had her subjects fight for her.

There's such a thing as suspension of disbelief. And then there's such a thing as asking too much of your audience.

This was in my humble opinion a bridge too far.
