Turning tables
dierregi27 December 2022
Everybody likes a twist in a story and we get it here, albeit it's not so unexpected as some hints were already disseminated in the previous episodes. It's a brave turn of the table, the sort that would never happen in an American woke series, but even if the story wraps up more or less satisfactorily, there are a couple of weak elements.

The elephant in the room is Adrien's parents, Catherine and Wim Winckler, the guy whose family hate Catherine's guts without Adrien wondering why. Just very hard to believe that your dad dies and you don't care to know what happened...

The second point is Carrel. I think the series would have been more poignant with a bit more background on him, rather than a few quick scenes that just show him as an unreliable, disgraced cop. Also, there's not much explanation as to why Carrel was obsessed with Albert and Solange. How much did he know about his background? How did he know he was the son of a murdered guy? Whatever, but not explained satisfactorily.

The final scene with mother's love in full display is way too sentimental for such a harsh, unsentimental story, also considering the damage Nora did. Obviously dark clouds hoover on the horizon, with Adrien's future very uncertain, but still...
