The nostalgia of "The Lulus" repeats itself every 15 minutes and then comes to an anticlimactic ending.

"The Lulus" relies heavily on the innnocence, dreaminess and carelessness of children's minds and souls, which is in contrast with the brutality of ongoing war. Eventhough we get to see some pretty dramatic and more serious scenes from the battlefield, they quickly shift to light-hearted childish atmosphere. In my opinion these two themes were put together unnaturally and it felt like the producers couldn't decide if they are making a dramatic war film or a family friendly fairy tale. The main message of "The Lulus" was to show the powerlessness of the children, but for my taste this theme was constantly reminded to the audience and in the end I found it to be a bit tiresome (which is a shame, because the performances of the child actors were fairly good). Unfortunately I cannot recommend this film.
