- Adam (Gabriel Basso) accuses his parents of being hypocrites after Paul (Oliver Platt) uses his blog to reveal that Cathy (Laura Linney) had an affair. And as Andrea (Gabourey Sidibe) tries to revive the school's Black Student Association, a new phone number provides Sean (John Benjamin Hickey) with a lucrative business opportunity.—Anonymous
- Unaware of how public an online blog actually is, Paul writes about his life leading up to his heart attack, that written account which includes Cathy's affair the previous summer. Adam reads the blog, which leads to strained relations between him and his mother. Cathy wants Paul at least to confess to Adam of his own affair to level the playing field, but Cathy ends up taking what she wants Adam to know to the next level. Feeling that his prayers may have helped in some of his mother's tumors disappearing, Adam decides to attend a bible group meeting at school. Andrea also attends a school group meeting, her newly resurrected Black Students Association, the first meeting which doesn't go as she wants. As such, she decides to hold the second meeting in conjunction with another gathering she needs to attend. Sean has mixed emotions in his new role as school custodian about gathering all the "junk" the students throw out, one item in particular which leads to a secondary but more lucrative new job for him. And Cathy spends more time at the pub under her assumed name of Alexis. Based partly on a conversation she has with Kirby the bartender, Cathy decides literally to make a new mark in her life.—Huggo
