Read More: Just in Time for Mother's Day: Cavu Pictures to Release 'Breastmilk' Into Theaters Bond/360 has acquired new documentary "The Mama Sherpas," executive produced by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein ("The Business of Being Born"). Directed by Brigid Maher ("Veiled Voices"), the documentary takes a look inside the collaborative practices of midwives and doctors, and the growing evolution of birth perceptions across the country. Now for something completely different. Though we dabble in the world of documentary film, I do not know if any of us had Dana Ben-Ari's Breastmilk on our radars as of late. But it exists and it is available now on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, and directly through the website www.breastmilkthemovie.com, where you can also buy the DVD and other breast-related products. You can watch the trailer below. Half of a Yellow Sun
R, 1 Hr., 53 Mins.
The makings of a grand historical epic –sweeping drama, personal tragedy, real-life heroism –are all there in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s 2006 novel about the Nigerian civil war of the late 1960s. But instead of distilling the book, the movie races through it, leaving great performances (notably by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton as a wealthy, emotionally complicated couple) overwhelmed by the unrelenting march of heart-wrenching moments. For any new parent, the pros and cons of feeding your baby with breastmilk versus formula opens up no shortage of opinion from experts, doctors, other mothers and more. And in this extended segment of clips from the film, we visit each of the mothers profiled in the movie in a nice cross-section of the subjects explored from feeding in public to how breastfeeding has possible ramifications on the physical...
