Self Same Sky is a modern adaptation of the William Shakespeare play Henry IV Part II.
The canine character of Paige was originally a human character in the play known only as the page boy, however the writer and directors decided to turn the character into a female furry companion for Falstaff. The dog used has no animal training and is actually male. He belongs to one of the directors of photography who often had to help create the actions as seen in the final film.
The title of the film is taken from Shakespeare's Sonnet XV, and was chosen due to the films roots with Shakespeare and thematic dualities in subject matter.
The role of Snare, William's police colleague in one of the early scenes of the film, is played by the first assistant director.
