HIMYM 8x01 Review
tylerpd201731 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The Season 8 premiere of How I Met Your Mother picked right of from how Season 7 ended. There's Quinn, Barney, Robin, Lily and Marshall all at the apartment adoring Little Marvin, while Ted is out running away with Victoria. Quinn ends up finding out about how Barney and Robin used to date from the sleep-deprived Marshall and Lily, who are notably worn out through the episode. This conflict was rather predictable, but it still could've been handled better. The conclusion with Robin having a boyfriend called Nick who's super hot ending all discussion about the conflict was somewhat rushed and displayed choppy writing that some of this episode had. However, that can be overlooked because of Ted's storyline. I personally found this to be the more interesting storyline and that Ted's constant failures to leave a note for Klaus to have closure between Victoria and Klaus pretty funny. I think the end was what really made this episode memorable, the flash forward showing us how close we are to the mother, which is something we've been waiting a long time for.

9/10 Amazing.

+ Ted's leaving the note behind storyline was strong

+ We're so close to the mother.

+ Marshall and Lily provided a decent amount of laughs.

  • Underwhelming Robin/Barney/Quinn storyline.

Farhampton (#8.1)

Warning: Spoilers
After a bit disappointing season finale, this beginning of the 8th season is much better.

It is not surprising that Ted and Victoria won't work out, but I am very impressed how they made the story. It was fun throughout. All the attempts of Ted to leave the note as well making her smell like Vitoria. And Klaus! Thomas Lennon was hilarious in this episode. It is about this stupid romantic idea on how there has to be the one fro everyone, but it was fun nonetheless.

They gave us some sweet moments on how Barney kept his memories with Robin because they matter to him so much, but I am a bit sad as I want him and Quinn!.

And Lily and Marshall were fun in this episode but I hope they have some good sleep because this won't work for more than one episode.

the last thrill of the roller-coaster !

Warning: Spoilers
iv'e been waiting now four months for season 8 to premiere. and it starts off from last season showing a bit of the wedding and then getting back to present day. in present day everything from last season progress's nicely. 1st off Victoria redeems herself from the abandoning she did last season not by confronting her fiancé but by writing a letter. 2ndly Quinn decides to pick robin and lily as bridesmaids which leads her to finding out about barneys past relationship with robin. and 3rdly with the new baby in the gang we see funny moments of marshal and lily and how they haven't slept properly since the birth of their son Marvin..wait for it...Erikson. last but not least this episode ends off in a very nice way, just giving us a glimpse of Ted's future wife getting out of a cab and standing beside him at the train station, with the yellow umbrella. as you can imagine they don't reveal to us her face so we still don't know who it is but they definitely make it clear that she is very beautiful!!! enjoy!!!!!

Well dang - that is how you end an episode. Then of course with the song "funeral" foreshadowing the future comes and plays. Pure poetry.

Great start of a perfect ending

Warning: Spoilers
I just want to start of by saying that this show is coming to its conclusion in this season or the next. As much as i love the show it is good to finally see the ending of a great sitcom.

Farhampton starts off where season 7 left of and we now know that barney and robin are getting married. I also know that Ted meets the mother at that wedding. With robin freaking out about the wedding they flashback to present day to when barney was engaged to Quinn. with Marvin born lily and marshal are copping with the hard work and Ted is having his own situation with Victoria, the run away bride.

This episode has its laughs as expected and also delivers emotion. the last 5 minutes are one of the best of scenes i have seen lately on TV. robin reminiscing on the time she was dating barney and and lily and marshal happy with Marvin "wait for it" Erikson. Last but not least Ted sitting on that train station after,as far as i know the big wedding of barney and robin. You see the mother walk up to the station and it leaves you thinking what now.

Warning: Spoilers
An amazing episode for season 8 premiere!! I laughed a lot, the German groom was great, it was hilarious with the German words!

The part with Lily and Marshell was really good and the fish and the guy with the scuba diving suit was very funny, reminded me of that episode where Barny tries to pull a stunt to get girls "The Scuba Diver".

And the end of the episode where you see the mother, it shows that the show is about to end and I believe Ted will meet her at the end of this season, and I hope that they will end it that way (and not continue with showing them dating) because it will just ruin the concept of the show.

I'm looking forward to next week's episode, I have a feeling this season is going to be great, way better than last.

How I Met Your Mother Farhampton

Warning: Spoilers
Last season we where left with the sight of Robin marrying Barney but in present time it he is engaged to Quinn meaning that this show will go on for much longer still. Ted takes Victoria from her wedding day but goes back to deliver a note. Robin and Lily are Quinn's bridesmaids but she does not know of Barney dating Robin. To solve the angry women Ted must get Barney to seduce the women over the phone but even though he succeeds in placing the letter he leaves the car keys in the room. When Quinn finds out about Robin and Barney she gives her in 52 seconds his relationship with Robin but she does not take it well. When Klaus also does not want to marry Victoria so it seems that whole plot goes over very well. When Quinn confronts Robin we find she has a boyfriend so nothing should be wrong with her getting back with Barney anytime soon. When Ted sees Klaus he must talk to him but it seems like a waste to me and unfunny to use a German finance for Victoria. Boring return I thought as once again the writing was horrible, the show seems to want to go on forever and also some of the actors in the show deserve better then what they are getting week to week. Even at the end it seems we finally see the mother of the show but we do not see her face.

EPISODE GRADE: C+ (MVP: Cobbie Smulders)

Falls Short On The Marshall & Lily 8 Or Above Rule
slightlymad2212 February 2015
Season eight starts off exactly where season seven left us, Robin and Barney's wedding.

Plot In A Paragtaph: As Ted and Victoria are about to run off together, Ted convinces Victoria that she needs to leave a note for her fiancé Klaus to give him some closure on the situation. But leaving that note is not easy. Meanwhile, Quinn asks Robin and Lily to be bridesmaids when she and Barney get married.

With a Klaus voice over we see Barney is not not 100% over Robin, and still has a soft spot for her, and Ted deep down knows Victoria is not "The One" but we do finally see Ted get his first look at the mother of his children at the end of this episode.

If this season builds towards this wedding (probably the season finale) we should meet the mother this season.

I feel insulted
cmelaniesenf11 February 2021
Every time I watch the next couple of episodes I feel insulted of the way Germans are portrayed. Klaus and his family are IN NO WAY behaving German! Not even in a cliche kind of way like Hollywood usually does. I don't know where the writers got their ideas from but probably not from a German. This really is not okay! Yes it is a comedy show and I may take it too seriously but they ain't doing this to anyone or anything else on the show.
