They say « keeping the best for last ». And when it comes to Desperate Housewives, that's exactly it. Season 8 is the best sequel, so to speak. It's a new season one, with all the emotional baggage of seven seasons of growth and twisted storylines. The way « The People We Hear » ends, is the best illustration of that. Susan decides to move on, Lynette questions herself and Bree and Gabby let their walls down. It's a very rewarding season, where all the lead characters seem to find redemption. After Mike was killed off, in a very spectacular and dramatic way, that sort of steals Tara's death thunder on BTVS. The series is addressing grief in different degrees. And even though this storyline I hate, involving Julie and Porter having a baby, dragged those previous episodes down. It finds a satisfying resolution, where all parties involved will get theirs, eventually. Tom finally dumping his girlfriend, was the icing on the cake. And Scott Bakula playing Bree's laidback lawyer, is another reason for me to love these remaining episodes. Not sold yet on Renee and Ben's happy ending though, but maybe I'll be proven wrong on those too...
