Exclusive: Here’s some more intriguing casting for Luc Besson’s big-budget reimagining of the Dracula story, Dracula – A Love Tale.
Zoë Bleu (Gonzo Girl), daughter of actress Rosanna Arquette, is joining as Elisabeta/Mina, while rising Italian actress Matilda De Angelis, who plays the lead in Agbo and Amazon’s upcoming Citadel: Diana, will play Mina’s friend Maria. These are the roles played by Winona Ryder and Sadie Frost, respectively, in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 version (though Mina’s friend in that film and the book is called Lucy).
As we revealed in February, Caleb Landry Jones (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri) is playing Dracula and two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) is understood to be playing the role of a priest.
Lucy and Leon filmmaker and Taken creator Besson is in pre-production on the movie, which will shoot next month in France. Additional casting is underway.

It’s starting to appear as if Warner Bros. Discovery knew what it was doing when the company kept discovery+ as a standalone service. The company originally intended to merge it completely with HBO Max this year, but pivoted in February to a plan that saw much of discovery+’s content migrate to its new streamer Max, but also left discovery+ as a separate entity that customers could subscribe to on its own.
New data released by research firm Kantar is showing that was a good decision. Kantar’s numbers show that discovery+ was among the fastest-growing subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services on the market in terms of subscriber share during the second quarter of 2023, despite the fact that the launch of Max took place on May 23.

Strike could be an opportunity for local talents to be successful worldwide, says Davide Nardini.
Davide Nardini, Amazon’s head of scripted originals in Italy, has addressed the possible impact of the SAG-AFTRA strike on local productions and has underlined that the streamer is looking for more mainstream projects that target broad audiences.
Speaking at the Audiovisual Producers Summit in Trieste, Nardini said that if the strike dragged on, it’s possible that it could inadvertently open up opportunities for local talents.
He underlined that Amazon was not planning for this and neither is it part of its international strategy.

Prime Video Italy’s scripted chief Davide Nardini took to the stage at the Avp Summit today and provided views on the actors strike, the streamer’s strategic shift towards mainstream audiences and local talent.
Should the labor action drag on for a significant period, Nardini said it is possible the actors strike in Hollywood could have the unintentional impact of opening up opportunities for international talent.
He stressed Amazon was not planning for such eventualities and that this is not part of the streamer’s international strategy. Instead, his team is geared towards providing context to Italian producers at the Avp Summit about potential outcomes.
“New projects will have the opportunity to gesticulate because the strike has imposed a stop and that entails gaps that could be filled by international productions of high quality,” he said. “It’s very complex and I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.

Amazon Prime Video is expanding its big, global spy franchise "Citadel" with the conclusion of the show's first season. Not only is the main series — which hails from "Avengers: Endgame" directors Joe and Anthony Russo — getting a second season, but the first spin-off has officially been revealed in the form of "Citadel: Diana." What's more, the spin-off has already been filmed and is due to arrive next year.
While we won't get into spoilers here, those who watched the "Citadel" season 1 finale on Prime Video were treated to a post-credits teaser that teed up the ball for the new show, offering a look at the next chapter in the company's so-called "Spyverse." A universe that they spent an absolutely absurd amount of money on, it should be noted. Though it's also supposedly quite popular, according to the company's own calculations.
In any event, Matilda De Angelis ("The Undoing") is set to headline "Diana,...

Much of the discussion surrounding Amazon Prime Video spy series Citadel is about just how gosh darn expensive the whole thing was to make. With a reported production budget of around $300 million, Citadel is one of the most expensive TV series in history, despite its first season featuring only six episodes all well under one hour long.
Even here at your friendly neighborhood Den of Geek, we wondered how a simple spys-to-lovers two-hander could end up with such a hefty price tag. With the conclusion of Citadel season 1’s sixth and final episode of May 26, however, we’re finally starting to get a better idea of where all that money went.
It turns out that Citadel season 1 will be followed up with not only a second season but also Citadel: Diana, the first of what Amazon hopes is surely many spinoffs. Despite what you may have seen on some less enlightened corners of the internet,...
