“I don’t know people who are just the right balance of quirky, I only know people who are too much,” John Early tells Et.
It’s easily a sentiment that applies to the indelible characters Early has already created in his relatively short yet rising career -- most notably the shameless narcissist-turned-murder accomplice Elliott Goss on the TBS black comedy Search Party. The series, which returned for an even darker and more hilarious second season in November, sees Elliott unraveling in spectacular fashion -- making 2017 another standout year for the actor.
“I was really touched when I read all the scripts for this season,” Early tells Et of returning to Search Party, which also stars Alia Shawkat, Meredith Hagner, John Reynolds and Brandon Micheal Hall. “I just felt like [co-creators Charles Rogers and Sarah-Violet Bliss] knew that I would have so much fun sh*tting in my pants, having a rash and watching my hair fall out.”

Joe Biden is sending "hope" to the McCain family.
The former vice president was a guest on The View on Wednesday, where he consoled Meghan McCain about her father, Sen. John McCain, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, earlier this year.
Biden is all too familiar with this form of cancer, as it's the same diagnosis his late son, Beau, received.
"I think about Beau almost every day," McCain said, tearing up. "I was told that this doesn't get easier. But you cultivate the tools to work with this and live with this. I know you and your family have been through tragedy that I couldn't perceive of. What would you tell people ... it's not about me, it's about everyone... "
Biden then got up from his seat, walked over to McCain and comforted her by holding her hand.

ETonline is going behind the scenes of Code Black on an all-new episode of our original Facebook Watch series, Let's Get Crafty.
Et's Leanne Aquilera recently caught up with a few of the show's stars around the set's craft services table, who dished on how they stay so fit around so much delicious junk food.
"When I was on TheWest Wing, I did four years and never even knew where the craft services table was," Rob Lowe explained. "Because, I have a theory: On TV, you're either getting bigger, or you're getting fitter, but there's no [in between]. Watch your favorite shows, you'll know what I'm saying."
However, if he could eat anything he wanted from crafty without consequence, it would be pre-packaged cookies and cream cheese danishes. Unfortunately for Lowe, he's stuck eating fresh fruit.

The 2016 presidential election was a surreal period, with a November 8 outcome that unfolded with the intensity of a horror movie — you know, the kind where the monster that supposedly died a few minutes earlier springs back to life to launch a whole new franchise. Of course, some members of the electorate felt differently. Depending on your point of view, the Trump victory was either a traumatizing jolt or a happy ending, and as the one year anniversary looms we’ve got movies that wrestle with both sides of the equation.

How Did She Do on Her First Day? For the most part, McCain’s first day was not particular unexpected. For example, she paid tribute to the talk show as well as Elisabeth Hasselbeck,

Leave it to the inimitable Susie Essman to tell it like it is. When asked about the possibility of still more seasons of Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” finally back on the small screen after six years away, Essman kept the door wide open. “I mean, did he come back after six years just to do one more season? Maybe they’ll be 11, 12, 13, who knows,” she told IndieWire.
And she’s got a point. After “Curb” wrapped up its eighth season in the fall of 2011, even David’s own cohorts were concerned that the bold and brash HBO comedy series had come to an end. Essman, who said she was sure the series was going to return (until she very, very much sure that it wasn’t), remembered speaking to David about seven months after the last season finale, set in Paris.

Few television series — especially those just unspooling their long-awaited ninth season — would be bold enough to trade on the concept that absolutely nothing has changed over the intervening years. Characters grow, situations change. But Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is not just any television series.
Six years after the HBO series wrapped its eighth season, Hollywood’s favorite malcontent is back, and he’s the exact same curmudgeon audiences love (and his friends love to hate). The Larry David of “Curb” doesn’t evolve, and never learns, and HBO has even made that the backbone of the show’s marketing campaign: This season’s official trailer literally boasts that “nothing has changed.”
Nonetheless, it was a long hiatus, and although the cameras weren’t rolling, surely Larry got into plenty of misunderstandings and stepped into countless of awkward situations during the intervening years. The last season saw him and...

Get ready for some brouhaha. Actually, the brouhaha has already started.
As I was reading the Friday issue of The New York Times, my eyes fell upon this: “In ‘Lord of the Flies’ Remake, Girls Survive Instead.”
The film will be under Warner Bros.’ auspice and will be written and directed by Scott McGhee and David Siegel, who co-directed The Deep End (2001) and What Maisie Knew (2013). Two men. But that’s not what bothers me – although I’m sure others will certainly be bothered. On a business level, McGhee and Siegel were the ones who brought it to Warner Bros., so they certainly have the right to want to write and direct the film. (I don’t know whether or not the deal includes a clause in which Warner Bros. has the right to “exchange” (i.e. fire) them if the studio isn’t happy with their work, and even if it does,...

Alternate endings aren’t cool. You know what’s cool? Alternate intros. And since nothing is cooler than Camp Firewood, it only makes sense that Netflix’s “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later” would have one. Watch it below.

It finds Coop (Michael Showalter) at a diner just before he and the rest of the Camp Firewood gang reunite as promised. Asked by his waitress what he’d like, the aspiring author replies, “An ending to my book would be great.” The awkward back-and-forth that follows is as David Wain-y as these exchanges come, and ends with Coop joking that “there’s only one writer here” to which the waitress responds, “You’re right, I’m never gonna amount to anything.” Awkward silence ensues, followed by those joyous opening credits.

For many kids, there's nothing scarier than "back to school" commercials, and with another autumn nearly upon us, the streaming service Shudder has highlighted a set of horror films that are perfect for that time of year when trapper keepers (they're still a thing, right?) and backpacks are in high demand. Also in today's Horror Highlights is another contest from our friends at Comet TV, initial details on the Windy City Horrorama, release info for Bad Exorcists, and the short horror film Lost Soul.
Shudder's "Back to School" Collection: "Pop Quiz: What's a synonym for "hell".? Answer: School - at least for the kids in these tales of homeroom horror. They've got to deal with twisted teachers, ghoulish gym classes and phantom pep rallies, all before lunch. A few hours with these scared students and you'll soon be praying for the bell to ring."

I have never been the biggest fan of the original ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘. Although it has attained cult status over the years, I never found the film to be memorable as others do. In fact, when Netflix revived the franchise a little over two years ago with an eight episode prequel series titled “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp“, I pretty much had the same feeling. With the latest entry in the revival, “Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later“, we finally get a true sequel to the original. And the premise is simple: the campers and counsels of camp firewood reunite a decade later to fulfill their promise made in the first film. Hilarity ensues. But the question still remains; does it follow the aforementioned trend of it’s predecessors? Well, the simple answer is no–but the more complicated answer, is inevitably yes.

In the year of our Lord 2017, The War of the Chrises ended. A long-gestating and confounding battle between movie stars with similar names, similar roles, and similar skin tones, came to a close. In the age of branding and franchises, every existing story has added value. But not every film is fit for TV.
The challenge of adapting movies to a new medium is a tricky one with no clear-cut way to do it. Many new series credit “Fargo” as their benchmark, citing its tone and setting as inspiration for creating a new world around the best parts of what came before. That’s all well and good, but there are as many failed attempts to replicate Noah Hawley’s strategy as successes.
Similarly, some carbon copies — using the same characters and plot points as the preceding movie — are just as good, if not better than their cinematic predecessors. Because any way can work, many various attempts have been made. There’s no right way to do it, but there are a lot of wrong ways; as evidenced by the growing pile of canceled shows based on movies.

1. “Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later” (available August 4)
Why Should I Watch It? Because you can’t resist. The core cast of “Wet Hot American Summer” is as irresistible as a cast can get, including Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, Molly Shannon, H. Jon Benjamin, and Ken Marino. Throw in the new members who joined up for Netflix’s prequel season — Kristen Wiig, Josh Charles, Chris Pine, Lake Bell — and this is a comedy dream team. The only problem facing creators (and actors) David Wain and Michael Showalter is finding enough time to highlight each and every one of their talented team, especially with even more actor additions for “10 Years Later” (like Adam Scott!).

The British royal family appears to be having a blast on their tour of Poland and Germany this week. On Wednesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton touched down in Berlin with their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, which immediately resulted in a handful of precious moments. While Prince George flashed his signature unimpressed face for the cameras, Princess Charlotte, who gave her first diplomatic handshake, was preoccupied with her bouquet of flowers. After putting their little tots down, the royal pair visited the Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial before heading over to the Strassenkinder, a charity which supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, where they offered warm hugs to a group of children. And they didn't stop there. Later in evening, the couple met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Bellevue Palace Gardens, where they held a garden party complete with champagne in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's birthday.

Prince George may be a royal, but he's also just a regular little kid. After touching down in Berlin as part of the family's tour of Poland and Germany on Wednesday, the 3-year-old flashed his signature unimpressed face for the crowd of photographers awaiting their arrival. While his sister Princess Charlotte, 2, looked quite content while smelling her bouquet of flowers and shaking hands with officials, the young prince sleepily rubbed his eyes as he pulled on his dad's arm. Traveling the world is fun and all, but he probably would rather be watching cartoons in his pajamas. Here's hoping he will get to play with some bubbles during this tour since that always seems to cheer him up. Princess Charlotte had us oohing and ahhing over her adorable debut in Poland this week, during which the 2-year-old stuck close to her mom, Kate Middleton, in a pretty floral dress and red flats. The shiny red shoes bear a striking resemblance to a pair that Harry wore back in 1986, complete with buckle strap, beige sole, and slight scuffing on the rounded toes. Of course, Harry and Charlotte have much more in common than strong footwear game - they're both a "spare to the heir" who will one day bond over playing backup to an older sibling who will one day take the throne. Just last month, Charlotte's big brother George also sported a look inspired by Uncle Harry; at the Trooping the Colour parade, the nearly 4-year-old prince was decked out in a white collared shirt and suspender getup that harks back to one worn by Harry at the...
