P.I. Joe Returns !
tristan_199 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 launches the audience into the action straight away. The pacing of this episode was absolutely relentless. I have to say this might be the best season of the show yet, but I'll reserve my final thoughts for later.

Portrait of the Artist is one of the series' very best. Joe is actually trying to do some real good and wants to genuinely move on. But the stalker becomes the stalked. The director does a great job at making you stressed and on edge. The quick editing and development are more than effective. The unknown puts your mind in some sort of state and you're looking and watching all the time because you want to figure out who the murderer is.

It's crazy that this is only episode 2. You get the sense that Kate is putting up a certain facade too. On the soundtrack front, the music delivers the thrills. Once again, it feels like the show is reinventing itself, but staying true to its roots at the same time, which was needed I think for a Season 4.

And the ending was absolutely creepy and mindblowing. You get the sense the killer has been building his case against Joe for quite some time... So who might it be ? Who knows ? Maybe someone from the past ? The denouement is certainly unpredictable here, in the sense that you really don't know who it is, and there is multiple angles to analyze. Good job.

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Joe, he has a dinner with all of Malcolm his friends. Again Joe gets blackmailed by a mysterious stalker. Joe follows all Malcolm his friends to find out who is stalking him. Joe got caught when he was spying on Adam. One of Simon his paintings got ruined by Blue. Joe and Kate talk with Blue after the incident. Simon has been killed on a cruel way. The stalker wants to make Joe his secrets public. Nice Episode of You Season 4, really nice follow-up of the first Episode of this Season! Joe seems to have bigger problems every hour in this Season. Interesting to see how this will develop!

It doesn't get any better...

Warning: Spoilers
...when I found episode one very disappointing I will save you all some time to say it doesn't improve. My biggest issue is that Joe has managed to secure a new life as a professor in a university. Without anyone needing references and he's living a life in the fanciest part of London. Not only that he can track a woman who doesn't want to be found across the world in a city of millions within a few days. Then when he's the last person to see the first murder victim die (and the body is on his dining room table, rolled onto the carpet and into his free car) nobody questions it. As more die nobody takes on seriously looking at this weird new American. In this instance he isn't the murderer and yet all the evidence is there for the police. On top of this the real murderer somehow knows who Joe really is. There may be some explanations coming, but it is so far fetched that it is just too unbelievable. That said in previous seasons he similarly managed to own large glass cages in his properties with victims without being discovered so maybe I just shouldn't be surprised.

Warning: Spoilers
Joe gets texts on an app that deletes messages immediately after they have been read. He is concerned with who it is.

One of his students named Nadia helps him with whodunnit storylines. There's always a motive.

Joe is invited to Soo's art gallery opening by Lady Phoebe. She was the one who left the mysterious card with the QR code on the back. Joe hears a woman screaming and rushes in - it is Phoebe undergoing laser hair removal. It is painful she says. Phoebe flirts with Joe a bit but Joe maintains his professionalism while her boyfriend talks on the phone. Phoebe asks him who he will be wearing and he has no clue. Phoebe tells her bodyguard to take Jonathan to the Gallery where there are loads of free suits from designers wanting walking advertisements.

Joe follows Lady Phoebe's boyfriend. Another man enters the room after scanning his card and Joe manages to keep the door open a crack without them noticing. The employee gives the bf a golden shower - he urinates onto the boyfriend.

Soo is killed by an unknown killer with his ear cut off.
