Funny but fell short

Warning: Spoilers
I think most people were left disappointed by the first episode of the new season. This episode was the one I hoped would bring things back into the typical Psych feel, while I found it much funnier than the first episode I was still left with a bit of disappointment.

The issue with this was the introduction of Rachel and finally giving Gus a relationship -- too much drama -- which was something none of us really wanted, well maybe some, but not many because it was a big part of his Character falling for the Girl. I miss Shawn the Bachelor too but his relationship with Juliet has been quite hilarious at times but Gus is the guy who always gets his girlfriend all wrong and then they break up within a week the moment Rachel came into play I knew she was going to be a normal person who will be with Gus, especially when Shawn accusing her never became a problem (Remember,From Earth to Starbucks? I thought it would've ended the same!) and again as with the first episode, the case wasn't very good, in-fact it wasn't about the case as it was a relationship episode between Shawn's parents, Shawn and Juliet, and Gus and Rachel and the case only made a big impact in the very end of the episode. I miss investigating, I miss Shawn's wits, and I miss Shawn & Gus being themselves.

Good Episode, Bad Ending

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was funny, with the premise being to find a serial killer, presumably on an online dating website. This intertwined neatly with Gus finally getting a girlfriend. I've heard comments about this not being "Gus" ... a grown man not having a girlfriend/boyfriend, and he isn't living with his parents? :-) Geez. Shawn's jealousy is very true to his character (and others), and the restaurant scene with Buzz was hysterical. Later in a meeting, Shawn calling Juliet a Jezebel was a bit over the top, but her response was that he "dated" in another episode was spot-on.

The response to seeing his parents in-bed, was proper for his character, he cannot handle such discussions. Gus' reaction was exactly on-point for him, so he was called Immaculate Conception later ... very nice tie-in to the theme.

Shawn's living at home, with his parents, was expertly done, with multiple smart references, including in the clothing store. A great scene to show-off Juliet's form.

Characters are supposed to develop in a series like this, so some changes are necessary to somehow match life. Folks thinking that the characters will remain stagnant is unrealistic.

What was amazing was the end when Gus' girlfriend, Rachael (awesome actress, such as in The Blacklist) tells him that she has a son, Maximus. Hmm ... already sets the stage for more lies. I won't write anything more about that, different episode. I would hope that real folks mention their kids on a dating website. But that is reality.

Juliet's and Shawn's "relationship" is always "odd", they actually kiss in this episode. However, they never really seemed to like/love each other much.

I downgraded this episode when hearing Shawn's mother spouting off on how Shawn should care more about his father. She was the one that left the family to pursue a career, never directly contacted Shawn when she was in town, and had no idea that Shawn had blamed his dad, Henry, for the divorce. She was a lousy mother which is skipped over in most of the episodes of the series. The point is the inconsistency of the scripts.
