Exclusive: Filmmaker Unjoo Moon has signed on to direct the Alloy Entertainment book adaptation Frankly in Love for Paramount Players, Deadline has learned.
The movie project is inspired by the same-name novel from David Yoon, which Time magazine called one of the best YA books of all time.
The book follows high school senior Frank Li, who in an attempt to get the girl of his dreams without upsetting his traditional Korean-American parents, concocts a plan to pretend to date his parent-approved friend Joy, but ultimately is left wondering if he ever really understood love—or himself—at all.
Allison Lee (Jawbone) and Evan Dodson (Lee Daniels’ Terms of Endearment) adapted the screenplay. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton will produce through Alloy. Taylor Tang will oversee the project for Paramount Players.

It's going to be a tough battle for this weekend's new releases as they'll have to deal with a Halloween-related boost for Paranormal Activity 4, Hotel Transylvania and Sinister, not to mention the continued success of Argo and Taken 2. The documentary "The Zen Of Bennett," which premiered this week in New York City, is a soulful, intimate portrait of crooner Tony Bennett, who turned 85 this year and remains at the top of his game.
His 2011 "Duets II" -- a collaboration with artists ranging from Lady Gaga and Willy Nelson to Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli -- won two Grammys and hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making him the oldest living artist in history to capture the top spot. This week he released "Viva Duets," a collaboration with Latin artists, including Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera and Ricardo Arjona.
Born Antonio Dominick Benedetto in Queens, New York, Bennett gave public performances as early as age 10, and worked as a singing waiter in his teens to help support his family. He served on the front lines in World War II and was discovered by Bob Hope in 1949, who supported his first tour...
