Sex & Nudity

- There is an implied sex scene in a car. We only see kissing and laying back in the car, then scene cuts. When it returns to this scene. They're asleep, spooning and fully clothed.
- In one scene, the camera focuses on Ringer's clothed butt.
- A brief camera shot, where Cassie walks and the camera focuses on her butt. This lasts for about five seconds.
- Cassie spies on a a man washing in a lake in an objectified way. The man is topless and with highly developed muscles and six pack
- When "Ringer" joins the faction of army children soldiers, the camera focuses tightly on her butt as the boys are staring at it, objectifyingly, for about 3 seconds
- "An innuendo or two." Vague and no relevance.
- Some kissing.
- "A teen girl talks about how male parts and female parts "match together"."
Violence & Gore

- A group of teenage soldiers dig tracking devices out of the back of their necks with knives. Some blood.
- A teenage girl is shot in the leg. We see the damage when she moves her bandages which causes her to bleed out, and later as it is stitched up and healing (blood everywhere in the next scene).
- A room full of adults are killed, mostly offscreen but you see some shooting and hear the shots. The dead bodies are seen later.
- A disease spreads rapidly and many people die. We see many body bags.
- A fistfight between members of a troop squad occurs. No blood.
- One of the children orders another to shoot him somewhere not fatal. Offscreen but we hear the gunshots.
- There is an intense fight scene between a teenage girl and a woman, which may be shocking.
- Dark themes throughout, including aliens disguised as humans and becoming contract killers.
Profanity

- A few uses of ass and crap, around 10 uses of shit. Most of the cursing is done by teenagers. Not as much swearing as there was in the book. A teenager uses the "f" word.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Teenagers drink alcohol at a party and some of them are implied to be drunk.
- A teen girl steps on a cigarette.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- Themes of threat and survival are prominent throughout the film
- Children are forced to train and kill 'others', we see kids as young as 5 or 6 with guns, which could be disturbing or worrying to some.
- Lots of use of guns and bombs.
- Teenagers die and kill others, which could be unsettling
- The first part of the film describes the 4 'Waves' which have destroyed the earth including loss of power, which causes a plane to crash, tsunamis and earthquakes and a deadly virus, which appears to have killed many.
Spoilers
Violence & Gore
- A man is found bloody and injured in the back of a convenience store. He makes a disturbing comment to a girl about "his stomach falling out". Later, the girl shoots him. This may be a shocking scene. Not too graphic, though.
- Children are forced to try and kill off what they think are aliens. One child dies, but we see no blood.
- A teenage boy kills another young boy by pressing a button, thinking an alien had taken over his body.
