The labyrinth's layout is randomly generated. The mazes will be different each time you play the game. Collectibles also have randomly generated status effects, meaning a black ring of power-up in one play through may become a health ring or a lightning ring in another play through.
Unlike most RPGs, gold isn't used here to purchase new items. Instead, the wealthier you are, the better quality funeral you'll be given when you die. The gold also stops the "ninja" type enemies from stealing valuable items by being the item they take first until it is depleted.
