Following the announcement of major Japanese companies investing heavily in AI translation start-up to boost the export of manga, illustrator of Kengan Ashura, Daromeon, recounted an interesting tale on twitter.
Daromeon revealed that English debut of Kengan Ashura manga was almost rocky as the professional translators who were responsible for translating the manga had done a poor job.
Sticking with the official translations would have posed significant problems, as the illustrator believed nobody would read them.
The situation was solved then by entrusting the translation of Kengan Ashura manga to a fan translation group.
However, Daromeon also wondered if AI translations could have helped with this situation.
“The English translation of Kengan Ashura is a bit peculiar, and we ended up entrusting it to an amateur group that had been illegally translating and uploading the manga without permission. This was because their translation was overwhelmingly better than the official one.

Crossovers in anime are rare to find but just as appreciated. Works such as that of Naruto, Dragon Ball, and One Piece take up the lot to stand as perhaps the greatest in the anime industry. Crossovers for such are rare to find, most of which are unofficial or fanmade. However, the same cannot be said for an upcoming Netflix anime. One that makes many fans’ dreams come true.

As anime and manga fans will know, the Baki series is one of the best-known and most popular martial arts manga and anime series of all time, right next to Hajime no Ippo and Kengan Ashura (we’re not counting Dragon Ball since it has a fantasy element to it). While Baki‘s style might not be to everyone’s liking, the series is popular, and, in fact, the series has been ongoing since 1991, with six different titles as of the time of writing. The current manga story, Baki Rahen, has been published since 2023.

We have seen multiple adaptations of Superman in various media franchises, from live-action to video games. However, not a lot of them have received as much acclaim as Superman: The Animated Series did.

A lot of talented actors and designers were also associated with the project back in the 90s. However, when it came to creating a character design for the iconic villain of Lex Luthor, instead of trying to design the character like the comics, the designers tried to copy the badass look of this iconic James Bond villain from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Japan, 2012
Who has not heard or read about the story of the man or woman who thought it was a neat idea to own as a pet, not a dog, cat, or some fish, but rather some wild beast they believed they could somehow tame and, in the process, form an inseparable bond with? A tiger, a lion or any other range of intuitively ferocious animal belonging in its natural habitat, that is, the wildlife. The story ends with mention of how the so-called pet turned on its its master, causing dreadful injury or even death. What propels people to engage themselves in as risky an endeavour as taming something that belongs in the wild is anybody’s guess. In Asura, the latest Japanese animated film, this one based on a 40 year old manga book from George Akiyama, screenwriter Ikuko Takahashi...

If I had more free hours in a day, I would probably devote a lot of attention to some of these mangas I haven’t had the opportunity to read. The premise for George Akiyama’s “Ashura”, which was published from 1970 to 1971 in Weekly Shonen Magazine, certainly sounds intriguing, which has helped spur my interest in director Keiichi Sato’s “Asura”. Same story, except without the “H”. I’m sure that won’t make much of a difference. Right? I managed to track down this synopsis. Thanks, Asian Wiki: Set in war torn mid-15th century Japan, a boy named Asura was born a beast. A young girl named Wakasa helps to tame Asura and help foster his human side. Asura grows up to become a high preist and help guide lost souls to heaven. “Asura”, which features the voice talents of Masako Nozawa, Kinya Kitaoji, and Megumi Hayashibara, battles...
