Set in an alternate version of Earth, the series takes place in the same desolate world as the original games. After advances in nuclear technology following World War II led to the emergence of a retrofuturistic society, an apocalyptic nuclear exchange wiped out Earth as the people of 2077 knew it. Those who could afford it hid in their Vault-Tec vaults. As for the rest of humanity, they were forced to confront the horrors of this new world head on. Now over 200 years after that war, one young Vault Dweller will risk it all and travel to the surface.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Now Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has also reportedly been spotted on set.

It seems that Disney and Marvel are re-examining their shows and films moving forward, and they are making “honoring source material” a priority, according to Marvel Studios Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Winderbaum expressed his excitement about working on “X-Men ’97.” During the discussion, he mentioned how much the streaming landscape has changed in the last couple of years, and moving forward, Marvel will need to be “a little bit more judicious with our choices.”
The discussion turned to the failure of “Secret Invasion” and how the performance of that show led to the retooling of “Daredevil: Born Again.”
When the higher-ups at Marvel reviewed the initial footage, they decided to change course and use “Loki” as an example of where to take the show—focusing on what came before to honor characters and set up new stories.

The Protector of Hell’s Kitchen is all set to return to the screens after a long time with Daredevil: Born Again. Yet, as happy with anticipation about his return as fans are, some of the updates about the upcoming show aren’t making it seem all too appreciable, especially the most recent potential spoiler about an MCU hero.
Daredevil: Born Again
As it seems according to recent reports, there are chances that a major hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whom fans had been waiting to see for so long, just might end up dying in the most bothersome way possible. And fans won’t be happy about it if this comes true, considering how the hero in the talk is none other than the fan-favorite White Tiger, aka Hector Ayala.

On the heels of What If…? season one’s warm reception, Marvel Studios head of streaming Brad Winderbaum knew that now was the time to pursue his longtime dream of reviving the beloved Fox Kids show X-Men: The Animated Series. The series aired from 1992 to 1997, and Winderbaum, as executive producer, is on the verge of releasing X-Men ’97, which picks up right where the original series left off as the classic X-Men characters are forced to find a way forward without the leadership of Professor Charles Xavier.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige required only two conditions before giving his blessing on the latest Disney+ animated series.
“Following the success of What If…?, when we were able to make more animated shows, [X-Men ’97] was my first idea out of the box. And Kevin [Feige] was like, ‘Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let’s do it.

Azula is arguably one of the most psychologically interesting characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Posing as one of the key antagonists in the series, her descent into madness was a spectacle that was almost difficult to watch. There are many reasons why a character as masterful, calculating, and smart as her, turned into an erratic and reckless leader who led to her own downfall.
Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Her entire life was a constant power struggle, trying to prove to her father and herself that she was worthy of the empire of Fire Lord Ozai. On top of this, there are layers of insecurity and constant use of fear as a form of gaining loyalty, which made her the way that she was. However, many could argue that it all can be traced down to one moment; the betrayal of Mai and Ty Lee.

S.J. Clarkson, the director of Madame Web, explains why the Spider-Women characters were not completely fleshed out in the film.
The superhero film starring Dakota Johnson is the origin story of Cassandra “Cassie” Webb who is later known as Madame Web. However, the film introduces Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor), and Ayna Corazón (Isabela Merced), who eventually become different iterations of Spider-Women.
Despite showing glimpses of their future as superheroes within the Spider-Man Universe, audiences won’t get to see how they obtain their superpowers, which was intentional.

Marvel has officially confirmed the inclusion of the Netflix Marvel series in the Sacred Timeline of the franchise. Until now, the series Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist were developed separately from the MCU canon and had only passing references to the movies. But with the shows being placed in the official timeline order on Disney Plus, they have been officially confirmed to be part of the MCU canon.
However, the fact that the Netflix Marvel shows were separate from the films had given the studio the freedom to allow some actors to crossover from the show to the films. But, with the shows being canonized, the portrayal of certain characters may be confusing. One of the biggest examples of this flaw is the casting of Mahershala Ali, who portrayed Cottonmouth in Luke Cage and will be seen as Blade in the MCU.

At the same time, he was asked about his preparation for serving as the master of ceremony and whether recent award show debacles would affect him when he takes the stage at the Royal Festival Hall, in London, later this week. Here is what Tennant said about hosting the BAFTAs and why wasn’t afraid of bombing on stage.

Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web has officially joined Sony’s roster of box office and critical flops, but it seems the harsh reviews are not exacting enough to deter the lead star from wishing for a sequel. Indeed, Johnson believes she could make another installment.
Dakota Johnson in Madame Web
Ever since Madame Web’s trailer debut, the franchise received negative criticism from fans. Its premiere also delivered a mediocre performance despite getting a Valentine’s Day release. Interestingly, it’s expected to perform worse than Jared Leto’s Morbius.

Dakota Johnson is a fascinatingly eccentric celebrity (and I very much mean that as a compliment), so it should come as no surprise that she's also been the most entertaining part of the marketing for "Madame Web." To some extent, the latest entry in Sony's Spider-Man Universe -- a movie that /Film's Witney Seibold describes in his review as a "clunky, earnest, and weirdly charming" oddity -- seems almost tailor-made for her. The "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor has a peculiar appeal as a public figure, from her handling of "lime-gate" to the wry, understated shade she threw at the meme birthed by the "Madame Web" trailer line, "He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died." The line itself isn't even in the film, which only makes both the meme and Johnson's reaction to it all the more curiously amusing.

Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) in Columbia Pictures’ ‘Madame Web’
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a weird place right now. Since the end of Phase 3 and “The Infinity Saga,” the movies seem to be just throwing stuff against a wall to see what sticks. Unfortunately, Madame Web doesn’t quite stick.
Madame Web is about a New York City paramedic named Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) who, after a near-death experience, discovers that she has clairvoyant powers. Meanwhile, a dark figure named Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), who also has clairvoyancy (as well as other spider-like powers), has dreams of three young women named Julia (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie (Celeste O’Connor), and Anya (Isabela Merced) who will develop similar powers to his and eventually kill him. Cassandra’s abilities allow her to detect Ezekiel’s plan and she vows to stop him. But to save their future, she must confront her own past.

Plot: Cassie Webb (Dakota Johnson) is a New York Emt who acquires clairvoyance after a brush with death. She uses her powers to stop a spider-powered villain (Tahar Rahim) hunting three girls who, he believes, will eventually end his life.
Review: Let’s get one thing out of the way first. Not every Marvel movie by Sony has been bad. For my money, they’re behind the two greatest Spider-Man movies ever made, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse. And there’s the Venom movies. Those are elevated B-movies, but they’re a decent amount of fun thanks to Tom Hardy’s merciless scenery chewing, and the grosses for those flicks have been astronomical. Clearly, someone likes them. Trailers are designed to stir up excitement, the amuse-bouche that whets your appetite for the three-course meal. Occasionally, the oldest marketing trick in the book backfires. When Sony dropped a sneak peek at Madame Web, the newest addition to the company’s roster of Spider-Man–related films and another of their corporate crossovers with the good folks at Marvel Studios, the reaction was … not exactly what they hoped for. The same fans they were hoping to get riled up about a batch of fresh Spidey-adjacent characters began to mock the clip,...

When it came to S.J. Clarkson’s approach to Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Woman origin story Madame Web, “It all started with clairvoyance,” says the filmmaker.
Clarkson, who makes her feature directorial debut with the movie, has already dipped her toe in the Marvel universe as an episodic director in such Netflix series as Jessica Jones. In fact, it was her visceral work in handling feminine Ptsd in a psychological thriller vein that made an impression on Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman, who was struck by the pilot’s finale scene in an elevator.

In addition, the British filmmaker discusses how she landed her killer cast of Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Connor.

Dakota Johnson has talked about the experience of filming superhero spin-off Madame Web – in particular acting against a blue screen for its effects sequences.
In a relatively quiet year for superhero movies, Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off, Madame Web, is the first of 2024’s offerings to emerge – it’s out in February in the UK.
Dakota Johnson stars as Cassandra Web, the titular heroine whose psychic powers give her the ability to see into the future. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Johnson describes the film as more “human and grounded” than most superhero fare, though that doesn’t mean it isn’t without its action set-pieces.
In fact, Johnson hints that she was quite perturbed by the CGI-heavy sections of the film in which she was asked to perform in front of a blue screen as people off-camera yelled stage directions.

With the release of Marvel’s Spotlight project ‘Echo’ several Marvel-based shows have “officially” become canon to the MCU continuity and were added to the MCU timeline. Of course, we are referring to The Defenders Saga. The Defenders Saga, also known as Street-Level Heroes and Marvel Knights, is a collection of Marvel Television series initially distributed on Netflix. Centered on the New York City vigilantes within the MCU, the saga commenced with the first season of ‘Daredevil’ and concluded with the third season of ‘Jessica Jones.’
Now, the fact that some details from ‘Daredevil’ appeared in ‘Echo’ was proof enough that Marvel Studios is ready to acknowledge these projects as canon to the MCU, despite ignoring the events that took place in pretty much all mainline movies and series released since.
Fans were already wondering whether ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ would make the first three seasons of ‘Daredevil’ canon, until it...

Marvel’s ‘Echo’ project has officially integrated several Marvel-based shows into the MCU continuity and timeline, including The Defenders Saga. Initially released on Netflix, The Defenders Saga, also known as Street-Level Heroes and Marvel Knights, focuses on New York City vigilantes within the MCU, beginning with ‘Daredevil’ season one and concluding with ‘Jessica Jones’ season three.
The inclusion of details from ‘Daredevil’ in ‘Echo’ suggests Marvel Studios’ willingness to recognize these projects as part of the MCU canon despite previous events being disregarded in mainline movies and series. Fans had speculated about the canonical status of the first three seasons of ‘Daredevil’ in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ However, with the recent announcement that ‘Born Again’ will be a reboot featuring a new creative team and significant rewriting, the current status of the show remains uncertain – whether it will be a reboot or a continuation.

Even though Charlie Cox, who played the Marvel Comics character Matt Murdock / Daredevil on the Daredevil series that was made for the Netflix streaming service (and is now available on Disney+) has since reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised the role of the villainous Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in the Hawkeye series, it hasn’t been clear whether or not that Daredevil show would really be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. When the eighteen episode MCU / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production with Cox and D’Onofrio in the lead roles, it was apparently branching off in directions that wouldn’t exactly match what had been seen in the Netflix show. But then the writers strike hit, causing Daredevil: Born Again to stop filming for a while… and during the break, Marvel executives watched the...

I often lambast the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the "same old, same old" feeling of its movies and television — so I feel a little hypocritical calling the revival series "Daredevil: Born Again" my most anticipated Marvel project.
"Daredevil" ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015-2018, but was canceled afterward. Like its sister shows, it was a casualty of Marvel and Netflix decoupling from their creative partnership. However, since it was the most consistently acclaimed of the Marvel/Netflix shows and the title character has the biggest built-in audience, "Daredevil" will be born again on Disney+.
As for why I'm excited? "Daredevil" was counterprogramming to the quippy fluff of the MCU movies, with a darker tone and more violence. Plus, what can I say, I'm a fan of the character. If you aren't familiar, Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer blessed with enhanced senses to compensate. At night, he patrols...

In recent years, Netflix has lost plenty of licensed content, but many will be surprised to learn that some of the removals from Netflix have been Netflix Original titles. Here’s the complete list of every removed Netflix Original since 2017.
To get to the bottom of why Netflix Original titles leave, they usually fall into one of several categories.
The majority leave because Netflix does not own them. Instead, they’re distributed internationally exclusively by Netflix for a fixed period of time. Secondly, it could be temporary or permanent licensing problems. For example, Beat Bugs left due to licensing problems for a short period of time, whereas Slasher was removed for some time because the owner of the series went bankrupt. Thirdly, some titles are time-specific. These include New Year’s Countdowns, for example. We won’t list these below. Next,...

This may be a controversial opinion, but Chloé Zhao's 2021 film "Eternals" is perhaps one of the best in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While several other chapters in the long-running media franchise may have featured more action and captured a certain kind of zippy character archetype that appeals to kids and adolescents, "Eternals" told a broad, philosophically dense sci-fi story that reached far outside superhero norms. The Eternals were a team of unfathomably ancient beings, constructed by ineffable space deities -- Celestials -- tasked with overseeing multiple billion-year cycles of God reproduction. The Celestials required the Eternals specifically because they did not evolve. Their previous creation, Deviants, evolved far too quickly. "Eternals" deals with a time frame so vast, evolution is considered "quick."
The Eternals also regularly aided humanity in their societal development, and are said to have been present in Mesopotamia, Babylon, and other ancient kingdoms. That's when they're...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe stands as one of the most expansive and interconnected cinematic realms, boasting a plethora of projects. Before Disney+ began crafting its own mini-series, Netflix held its ground with the “DefenderVerse,” linked to the MCU. After a decorated career in television, The Family Plan director Simon Cellan Jones has returned to feature films for the first time in two-plus decades.
Cellan Jones’ feature career began with 2000’s Some Voices, a British drama starring a still-emerging Daniel Craig, and he soon followed that up with 2002’s The One and Only, before spending two decades in television, helming episodes of How to Make It in America, Treme, Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Ballers and Shooter. Four of the aforementioned shows were executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, and when the actor needed a filmmaker to direct March 2024’s Arthur the King during the pandemic, he gave Cellan Jones a second go-round in the feature space. Recently, Bob Iger of Disney came out with a statement that Disney should focus on quality over quantity and that the fact that recent projects, both when it comes to the MCU franchise and Disney shows and movies in general, can be attributed to the fact that they are pushing to much content out.
It’s not even a matter of superhero fatigue, as most of their projects seem to be underdelivering in recent times, and 2023 might be the first year since 2014 (pandemic years excluded) that Disney will be closing the year without a billion-dollar movie.

Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson are entering the Spider-Verse.
Johnson leads Sony-produced “Spider-Man” film “Madame Web,” playing the title character alongside Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter, the Marvel Comics character who becomes Spider-Woman. Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, and Zosia Mamet round out the cast.
“A week ago, I spent my life racing against time,” Johnson says in the trailer while working as a paramedic, “trying to save people who were running out of it. Until one moment changed everything.”
After a near-death experience, she can suddenly see the future, one that hinges on the protection of a trio of high schoolers, including Sweeney, who will become spider-centric heroes.
Per the official synopsis: “Meanwhile, in another universe… In a switch from the typical genre, ‘Madame Web’ tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb,...

Move over, Spider-Man… there are some new web-slingers in town.
Sony has released the first trailer for “Madame Web,” starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, a suspense thriller set in the studio’s universe of Marvel characters.
Johnson steps into the leading role of Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic who may have clairvoyant abilities — which allow her to see into the future and the interconnected spider world. In the trailer, she meets and forges a partnership with a trio of young women — including Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter, who later takes on the mantle of Spider-Woman in the comics — to understand her past and survive the deadly present.
The cast also includes Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps and Zosia Mamet.
After the huge success of Sony Pictures Animation’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” it’s clear there’s still an appetite for all things...

If everything had gone differently, we would have already seen "Madame Web" by now. Yes, though the studios would have you believe it was delays caused by Covid-19, their refusal to give this summer's striking writers and actors a fair deal in a timely manner pushed the lady slinger back off her initial July 7 release date, and then again off an October 6 release. "Madame Web," the latest experiment in Sony's massively successful "Spider-Man" franchise, is now slated for February 16, 2024. That means it will open against the Bob Marley biopic, "One Love," so there should be distinct enough audiences for both films to do well.
There have already been two spinoffs of the core "Spider-Man" films, following the villains Venom and Morbius, to wildly different levels of success. If you count the "Spider-Verse" films as spinoffs, then there's an even higher bar for success that may not be fair...
