Awesome song, with a slightly unusual video

Debut album and debut single "Rattlesnakes" presents Lloyd Cole and the Commotions performing the song in a very awkward way but their sound is so unique, harmonic and with a poetry filled with cinema and literature references that you'll probably won't mind its strange visual moments.

As usual their videos consists of music performances of the group in small rooms or small sets, never a live performance or along with a crowd, simple and easy. This one presents a thematic related with countless American highways and vehicles moving around. What comes as highly unusual is Lloyd Cole acting completely uncomfortable, looking everywhere, with his eye-rolling up all the time. In future works, he looked more confident and managed to stare at the camera in a great serious manner. But here, it's qute funny. And drummer Stephen Irvine creates his trade-mark as seen in other clips with his great smile.

In terms of first impressions of a band, this looked weird back in the day but the music is marvelous and you even forget about the group performance. Their sounds speaks volumes here and that's the ideal of a video selling the song. For that matter, it gets a nice praise from me and also because it's a favorite track of theirs for a long time, and ever since knowing "Rattlesnakes" I became of the band and never got tired of them. 8/10.
