- "The Voice" - The Battles Pt. 2 - Oct. 9, 2012
First up in battle is Team Cee Lo with Cody Belew vs Domo. He chooses "Telephone" by Lady Gaga for a battle between a singer who can dance and a dancer who can sing. Rob gives Cody advice about hitting notes and Cee Lo wants Domo to project. She seems more worried about choreography but he's worried about her vocal. Cody's worried that Cee Lo will be distracted by how hot that Domo is. They're keeping the choreography a secret from Cee Lo. In the battle she starts off fine but he is clearly stronger. He moves fine and she moves like the dancer she is. They have a nice rapport though and show off some good synched up moves. They end on a super cute note on the same microphone. Cee Lo picks Cody.
No one elects to steal Domo.
Next up in battle is Team Xtina with Aquile vs Nathalie Hernandez. She chooses "You Give Me Something" by James Morrison because they're both so laid back. Billie Joe thinks Aquile sounds better than the original. Xtina tells her to be more fearless and gives her line readings basically. She also wants them to mesh well. In the rehearsal Nathalie picks it way up. At the battle he has more power but she has a charm to her more laid back style. She has a few little pitch issues. It's very sweet but he's clearly stronger. Christina chooses Aquile.
No one elects to steal Nathalie.
Next up in battle is Team Christina with Celica Westbrook vs Lisa Scinta. We only get to see snippets of their battle on Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You." She chooses Celica.
Next up in battle is Team Blake with Charlie Rey vs Rudy Parris. Again we only see a snippet of them singing "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. Blake chooses Rudy.
Next up in battle is Team Adam with Caitlin Michele vs Melanie Martinez. Adam paired them because they're unique. He chose "Lights" by Ellie Goulding. Mary and Adam give them both advice to take the notes higher. Mary was surprised by Melanie's "grown woman"-ness even though she's only 17. At first Caitlin is scared and then Melanie seems more frightened. They both have pitch issues in the final rehearsal. In the battle Caitlin clearly has more power but Melanie has that cutesy, hiccupy girlish thing going that these judges like. Their harmonies sound nice though. Adam chooses Melanie.
Cee Lo and Blake hit their buttons to steal Caitlin. She chooses Cee Lo.
