- Open in the cafeteria. Jake and Marley talk about being poor. Blaine and Brittany watch them and contemplate young love, with Blaine looking a little sad.
The next morning, Rachel tells Kurt the night before she and Finn didn't even speak to one another. Finn tells her that two weeks in, he shot himself in the leg with his own gun (which he named Rachel) while cleaning it. She thinks he should use the opportunity to spend a year in New York with her and check out NYADA.
Santana is home from college and we see her and Brittany spend time together doing some laundry. Brittany is reading a book for an after-school club she's involved with.
Kurt and Blaine are having difficulty staying connected. Blaine is supposed to visit in two weeks.
Finn is impressed with how at-home Rachel seems in NYADA and he is pretty certain it isn't the place for him. He's not sure about their future. Blaine and Finn sing "Barely Breathing" and we see their relationships may be coming to an end. Blaine even asks a boy he met on Facebook named Eli if he he'd like to hang out.
Kurt and Rachel want Finn to come with them to a karaoke bar. Blaine shows up unexpectedly.
They run into Brody at the bar. He wants Finn and Rachel to sing a song together, but Finn suggests that since they're student they should perform the duet. Rachel and Brody sing "Give Your Heart a Break" while Finn watches intently. Blaine then gets by the piano and performs "Teenage Dream." Kurt looks concerned during what is an emotional performance as Blaine's crying as the performance continues.
After the bar, Finn tells Rachel New York is too big for him. Kurt asks Blaine what's wrong, and Blaine says he was with someone. At the same time, Rachel admits to kissing Brody. Blaine says that when he needed Kurt he wasn't there. Kurt is crushed. All four sing "Don't Speak."
The next morning it seems like both relationships are over. Finn wakes early and is about to take off, but Kurt finds him, hoping that it would be Blaine. The stepbrothers hug and Finn leaves.
Kitty is running the group Brittany is involved with, the Rapture-based Left Behind club. To prove a point about how it feels they trick Tina's assistant Dottie into thinking she's been left behind. She's devastated. Brittany tells Santana that was what Santana did to her.
Finn stops by McKinley to see Will. He gives Will a hug and starts weeping. Blaine tells Finn that Kurt is refusing to talk to him. Will is letting Finn hang out as he thinking things over. They're trying to select the fall musical. Finn tosses out Grease and everybody likes the idea.
Will has been selected for the Blue Ribbon panel and he asks Emma to come with him to DC for a few months. She doesn't seem keen on leaving her job for such an extended period and this turns into an argument.
Blaine sends Kurt flowers. A guy at work notices and Kurt tells him what's going on.
Santana stops by school to tell Brittany something she doesn't know how to phrase it, so she decides to sing her "Mine." Santana says she's hasn't been a good girlfriend, but she doesn't want their relationship to end with somebody cheating and confesses to having had an "energy exchange," basically meaning she saw a woman smiling at her in a coffee shop and she [Santana] smiled back. They both cry as they essentially break-up.
Marley asks Jake how he can be with somebody like Kitty. He says a lot of it has to do with the fact nobody makes fun of him when he's with her. Kitty walks by and starts making fun of Marley and her mother. After one crack too many, Jake breaks up with her and Kitty promises that it's not over.
Rachel flies to Ohio and meets with Finn on stage at McKinley. She yells at him for hiding from her for months. He doesn't think he has as much to offer as somebody like Brody, but she reminds him he was the first person who ever made her feel sexy. She wants to spend the rest of her life with him, but says she can't do it right now. She dumps him. Finn, Rachel, Brittany, Santana, Kurt, Blaine, Will, and Emma sing "The Scientist."
