Not so Perfect but Good Ending!!
rawat-arpit16 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have been watching Gossip Girl since beginning, mostly i love the College life part, there always be some twist in each episode, sometimes its predictable sometimes shocking. The chemistry between Chuck-Blair, Dan-Serena was always brilliant, the pacts made by Chuck-Blair always led to something interesting events. I specially like how Dan's or "Lonely Boy" character evolved all these year, also Serena became more serious about her future, Chuck began to care about the relationships. I loved to see Jenny and Eric back for finale, they both were brilliant characters and i think they should not be written off after second season. But nonetheless at last Gossip Girl ended on good note, or i can say Happy Ending!! .. xoxo.

New York, I Love You XOXO (#6.10)

Warning: Spoilers
And so it is over. I will miss the show. But I liked how they wrapped it up. Blair and Chuck being happily together is a great outcome. I didn't care for Dan and Serena but it was predictable that they will end up together. Many people were probably hoping for it. And Dan being the Gossip Girl was a big surprised to me. But I am happy with it. They managed to explain it well. Although just like Blair I thought it will be Dorota, lol! I am kind of sad that Lily and Rufus didn't end up together. They were my favorite couple in the first two seasons. But at the same time they were not that great when they finally ended up together and there was no time to show how they managed to overcome all the issues they had at the end of their relationship. All in all I am very happy with how it ended.

Fitting End
crooked_spoons18 October 2013
I have seen, and been greatly disappointed by many series finales yet my first thought when the final credits rolled was "flawless". The writers pulled off this conclusion flawlessly. OK well, maybe is wasn't "perfect" per se (few finales are) but it ended in such a way that I certainly didn't feel like I'd wasted years of my life following a show with no pay off in the end. Everything seemed pretty logical and true to form as far as the characters are concerned.

While I wasn't exactly blown away by the big reveal of Gossip Girl's true identity I won't lie and say I "totally saw it coming" either. I'm glad it turned out to be who it was and the Kristen Bell cameo was very well done. I liked the brief flash-forward at the end as well and I liked seeing where certain characters ended up. All in all, I'm quite pleased and more than happy to give this a very high rating.

Pleasantly surprised

Warning: Spoilers
I don't write reviews often, but I think this goes down in history as a very good series finale! From the build up of Chuck's drama with his father ending with Chuck on top. Who knew true love would conquer all, Chuck, Blair & their son Henry, finally together once and for all! The big "reveal" on who Gossip Girl was, was also a pleasant outcome, not too shocking, but I think I would have preferred Dan to be GG over any other characters. Now the last 5 minutes of the episode was quite pleasing. Everybody happy in a room together whether they were with the same person 5 years prior or the new couples. Everyone happy,in a quaint room to be apart of the marriage of non other than "lonely boy" himself & his beloved Serena. In the end, Dan won, he wanted to be apart of their world, he came in, played the game his way,and won! These characters have been to hell and back in one way or another & have strayed further from one another. I can say from myself, watching this show from the age of 21 to 27, the ending couldn't have been any better. Some may say it was rushed, but I don't think so, I say they left the rest for us viewers to imagine further details for our own fantasy ending. Can't forget I think what is the best part, the ending song was none other than the very same as the Sex & the City finale song, but with Florence & The Machine covering it. Very New York to me! Well done!

Love!
ava79211 June 2020
Watching the show the second time around has just reminded me how much I was in love with Chuck Bass! This show had been on my radar ever since I saw it's trailer and thought it was movie, later to find out differently. I had watched the show when it first aired and then forgot about it, well not really forgot but yeah subconsciously loving it. So, when during this worldwide lockdown I rewatched it on Netflix, all the feelings and the emotions came rushing back to me and reminded me of what a beautiful love story Chuck and Blaire had. For me it was everything, I never wanted this show to end or maybe wanted some more of Claire but every good thing comes to an end. But at least they could have given more than 10 episodes in the final season, well whatever I just love this show and am in love with both Chuck and Blaire and yeah they make me escape reality, so it's worth every bit of it. I didn't really care for any other characters, well maybe a little about Nate but Chuck and Blaire... ah not a thing more to say other than that there can and never will a better love story than this one. Ever. I have watched almost every rom com drama ever and have narrowed down my top three ships: "Claire"- Gossip Girl "Naley"- ONe Tree Hill "Love"- Veronica Mars (except for the tragic ending) They all make me fall in love and just love love.

Even don't know how to describe my feelings after watching this
laura-avota4 September 2018
This is probably the craziest finale I've ever watched.... everything resolved in two series - let's kill the bad character, move from hate to love, quickly resolve all the issues... WOW... in the beginning I felt frustrated, but suddenly I noticed that I'm in love with how everything was played out... each character suddenly had unseen witty side. Amazing! And music - just spectacular!!!!

The One Where We Finally Find Out Who Is Gossip Girl...
taylorkingston4 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited for this episode, mainly to find out who Gossip Girl was, and sadly, when I found out it was Dan, it was super depressing. I feel like it would've been way better with another charactering being Gossip Girl. I mean how pathetic is it to make a gossip website that talks about you, so you'll get noticed. Pathetic. But other than that, it was a pretty good Series Finale.

In this episode, we finally find out who Gossip Girl was married. But before that, we see Blair and Chuck finally get married and then running away from the police. Dan Humphry is Gossip Girl, you read right, how sad is that? At the end of the episode we see a big reunion for Serena and Dan's wedding. Chuck and Blair now have a son, Vanessa and Jenny come back. Basically, everyone's there. Even Georgina.

Fun Fact: Penn Badgley didn't know his character was Gossip Girl until the day before final episode was filmed.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

Why is the finale rated so high??
calebamorgan6 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was terrible, it was a rushed sloppy mess.

The GG reveal was weird and just flat out dumb.

They've built to Blair and Chuck finally getting and getting married for years only for it to be a rushed mess.

This series turning into the Blair and Chuck show is just dumb, they ruined the last seasons because of Blair and Chuck.

Serena deserved better, why did she marry Dan??? Why did they make her say him being GG is writing love letters to all of them??? Wtf.

Why is Lily with William??? Sloppy and stupid.

I feel bad for Ivy like wtf...

Why wasn't Vanessa at the wedding???

Why was everyone ok with Dan ruining their lives???

Average finale
dianamarinelli13 July 2020
Since treat hung this show a second time I will give the writer some credit for ending the main characters arc beautifully Pros: the unexpected cameos, everyone got their happy endings Cons: the finale was too rushed and should of been 2 hours instead and expected better for the wedding scenes and was shocked that Nate ended up with no one

The revealed Gossip Girl doesn't work!
domenica-george7 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This finale is flawed on so many levels it makes me question whether the writers literally gave up on any attempts to make the big reveal believable. The 'Gossip Girl' makes no sense, in particular half of season 2 DOES NOT FIT IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER!!! Insomuch as the couples that were clearly meant to be together finally get together, yeah its one of those things that anyone who watches shows from start to finish knows they just have to see it happen to feel satisfied, but, REALLY? Its so frustrating and it makes watching any earlier seasons so irritating because all I can do is notice the flaws in the final plot. Some of which the writers try to explain with a vague cover sentence or two, but it just doesn't make sense. This show should have ended two, maybe three, seasons ago. Maybe then the writers would have been able to remember the story lines enough to make some kind of coherent arc, as opposed to the nonsensical rubbish that's been churned out for the last couple of seasons.

What?
ana5770925 October 2017
This episode did not only make no sense whatsoever, it has also managed to ruin any fun in watching gossip girls previous seasons again.

By now it's known that the writers of the show hadn't planned to make Dan gossip girl from the beginning, something that is painfully clear to anyone with the least amount of common sense. They made the mistake of not thinking their storytelling trough and ran into a huge obstacle: how do they reveal Dan as GG and NOT have the finale end in tears and rage? To do so they had to make an annoyingly dumb decision, they had to let all the other characters forgive Dan. So him being gossip girl and ruining pretty much everyone's lives about a million times was justified with some vague excuse that wasn't logical or believable in any way.

So what have we learned from this last episode? Absolutely nothing. I know gossip girl has never been the show to watch if what you are looking for are deep, poetic life lessons, but the thought that none of the characters have grown in any kind of way over a six year period, and that it was absolutely fine that Dan had created a spy-on-your-friends-and-stab-them-in-the-back-to-climb- the-social-ladder atmosphere for generations to come leaves me very disappointed.

It might have worked if it had been planned from the beginning. Yet what bothers me most is that the last episode does not only ruin the finale, but all the previous episodes as well. I will never be able to watch the show again and not look for plot flaws. Not to mention that sweet old lonely boy will now forever be this creepy stalker sociopath in my eyes, instead of simple, cute Dan Humphrey. Who knew all it took for him to finally be part of the elite was to screw them over and over again for six years and reveal he was the evil puppet master all that time?

Bad
aylalyla17 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This was by far one of the worst, Frankenstein-esc, series finales EVER. The whole thing was rushed and slapped together. Its great that Chuck and Blair end up together, but the "lets sit around and talk about our feelings" bit when Dan reveals that he is Gossip Girl is, for lack of a better word, lame. To further degrade what was over all a great series, the cameo entrances (though funny) don't fit at all with the vibe that has surrounded the show the past 6 seasons. Why don't the characters just bust out into song then? Not to mention the "5 years later" ending, which reminds me far too much of the forced (and terrible) Harry Potter epilogue in the final book. Its all implied information and does not need to be so cornily and cheesily laid out for us.
