Watched this drama. Its not a healing drama or anything but watching it brought so much comfort to me. I had no idea how much comfort could food bring to people's lives. A couple who is on the verge of getting divorced, the wife gets diagnosed with end stage colorectal cancer, so she cannot really eat anything, so she asks her husband to take care for her food in her last days. The husband who doesn't know anything about cooking starts to cook for his sick wife. They have a son who is not happy about his father moving back with them because he was never there for him while he was growing up. So, he would ask his wife what she is craving for then would do the whole internet search & study and would go to the market to get the fresh ingredients to cook that food. Then he would upload the whole process to his blog..... That's it about the story, now what i liked about this drama. I never thought that the husband wife relation could be this beautiful, i mean how when she got sick the only person she could think of to ask for this favour was her husband & how he was ready to do anything for her as long as she can eat anything. Now i am not really a fan of getting married but this drama made me think that if that's how it is, i am up for it. As this drama was about cancer and as cancer itself is such a painful experience it focused on bringing comfort and rebuilding bonds between the parents and their son. The way they showed husband 's devotion while cooking for his wife, they showed his love , pain, sadness, comfort and desperation to do anything he could for her. This drama is a true gem.

Succulent Meals

Touching exploration of loss, love, and the amazing healing power of food where cooking serves as the thread that binds the characters' stories together, creating this rich journey that really resonates. The plot unfolds with this perfect blend of heartwarming moments and raw vulnerability, letting the characters navigate through their grief while finding comfort and connection. I found it cruel and beautiful whenever they were celebrating a happy moment while the over narration was delivering a heartbreaking news at the same time. Devastating! While most of the drama was great but every now and then there was an awkward piece of dialogue or an awkward shot that was just out of place.

Definitely not a downer.

Really it's not a depressing tear jerker melodrama at all. Sure it's clear from the title and description that death is on the menu, but that's far from the whole story of this family facing loss pretty much head on. There are family, friends and work place relationships in play. The cooking is an act of loving kindness by the husband. Sharing food is way of showing love and care for another person and this is central to the story.

Smell and taste are incredible memory triggers. Food is an integral part of life--everyone needs it. The 'improving' recipes will probably make you hungry so prepare your favorite snacks and meals accordingly for consumption before, during, after viewing.

I found this via a search for Han Suk-kyu's roles after watching Dr. Romantic and while this is an entirely different story and role, it was a most welcome surprise. It's a very positive take on the circle of life overall.
