Worst tv series Ever
ophe-9359020 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show had great potential but like almost all Turkish shows they had to make the lead actress stupid and jas zero brain cell. After experiencing what she went through with the man she love you would think she would have come out on the other side stronger and wiser but instead she was even more stupid than one person should ever be. I mean this man rape you by trapping your head in a car window than you forgave him in a day and a half found out you are pregnant and try to make a happy home with the man that rape, That same man came told you to have abortion and watch as your father almost beat you to death and turn around marries your bestfriend and you still love this man . This show was so degrading towards women it make me sick i couldn't watch it anymore.

No Growth therefore no point!
bgonz-9677422 May 2023
Amazing actors and it had so much potential to be a great story! But you can tell this was written by a man and through his eyes only. What a waste of a good plot! Iffet could have been great! But no person would go through what she went through and not grow!

Sometimes a story is just a story and doesn't need crazy plots. Sometimes we just want to enjoy a characters development in a positive way!

Cemil was the worst character! He was absolute trash and not a man at all! Great actor but his role was written in a horrible way. Its like the writers have never thought about what women go through and what they want.

Horrible!

A Show That Feels Like A Constant Disappointment Warning: Spoilers
The show begins with what seems like a simple plot line. It will be a simple story of a girl attempting to get revenge on the man who wronged her. This is further implied by the show being called Iffet's Vengeance in some languages. The show goes little with this plot line. While the show seems to go through this plot line, they begin to tack on additional plotlines that are unneeded and detract from the show's main point. In its strange ways, it almost feels as if the show uses the main villain as a villain of the week, and once the audience grows bored, they simply add another antagonist or point of conflict from nowhere. An example is the romance between Iffet and Ali. To add to this relationship, there is a relationship between his sister and a thief, which not only adds conflict but begins a battle between Ali and his best friend, which results in him leaving the death of his sister's partner and her bankruptcy, his daughter is revealed to be a coke addict who then falls into obsessive love with the protagonist's former love interest who kidnaps and torments her throughout the whole show after leaving her allowing her to get a miscarriage from her father (who stabs him at his wedding where no one stops him to the point that by the time the ambulance comes the father has somehow not only walked back home, but also made his confession, gone to the police station, and met with the commissioner of Instanbul (all on foot!!)). In short, this show simply has no fluidity, and every time they struggle to continue a significant plotline, they merely throw another one into the show in an attempt to buy time while they fix the main plotline (which at this point is impossible to determine) and simply then create further conflict as they do return as now they must settle every plot hole and pointless issue they have created and to do this create another plotline making a massive snowball effect that makes a once interesting soap opera into a burning trash pile that simply no longer moves the viewer but irritates them to the point that the only attachment you feel to the show is a desire to see everyone protagonist included suffer. The supposed vengeance from our timid protagonist, Iffet, is non-existent, constantly forgiving everyone, leading to a show that flips between love and revenge and the character wanting repentance and becoming more awful. This show is horrible, and as of my point, episode 40, the show is utter pain, and the person I am watching it with is only finishing it because we are so deep into this mess that even though it only agitates us and has made both of us throw the phone at points we finish simply because.

GREAT STORY, PERFECT ACTING, DISAPPOINTING ENDING
lizsorriso9 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This ending is a Never expected, Disappointing and even Stressful for whoever dedicatedly watched and loved this series. The actors are Super, Fabulous and sooo Realistic and Professional - especially Ibrahim Çelikkol THE BEST ❤

Up till 2 minutes before the final ending of episode 40, I would give this series FULL Rate, though those last 2 minutes ruined the whole story!

BAD SCRIPT ENDING... another episode 41, was needed to finally fit all the pieces together and give a satisfactory ending to the spectator... and what about Nihal, mother of both Iffet and Nimet??

If Çemile really died, it only means Iffet would spend 30 years in prison, and Elif their daughter remains an orphan....

so I IMAGINE, that an ambulance took Çemile to hospital, where he was operated and saved by his future brother in law and Nimet.

Their daughter Elif, having seen and experienced terror and fear from her adopted father, trying to kill her real parents, will then refuse to see him again.

Halil the adoptive father, conscious of his arrest for stealing the baby, picked the gun and took also the blame of shooting Çemile, to cover Iffet, so his daughter will remain with her mother.

A few weeks pass and Çemile returns home, where Elif watches him and sleeps next to her father, growing more fond of him and her brother Mehmet.

6 months later Iffet & Çemile, together with their children, friends and family, are on a picnic celebrating Elif's 6th birthday, and Iffet announces joyous news to Çemile, and all the people at the picnic, that she's pregnant.

That would have been a PERFECT ENDING to such a great story and of much honour to the highly professional actors within this series ❤

Terrible writers
hestelbell28 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The actors in this series are are fantastic. The writers, you can see their names in the series detail, are terrible. I wouldnot hire them to write a receipt much less a script for a series. These writers have no grasp of how to write an ending.

By their writing disaster they harmed the actors in this series. The writers are the reason for the low ratings. The writers should be ashamed of themselves. This series could have won top awards but for the writers complete stupidity. If you read the comments on YouTube the complaints were about the writers not the actors.

Actually the writers started the screwup when they skipped five years. Then at that mishap there were to many loose ends and these loose ends were never caught up to complete the story. Therefore the ending made no sense.

Loved this show so much that I continued to watch to the end without English subtitles...would have rated higher except no subtitles so had to guess what the plot was, but did enjoy it

Fantastic Story of Tradition, Abuse, Love and Tragedy
alaykather27 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Iffet was a difficult yet riveting watch. The level of physical abuse, misogyny, and oppression was a study of love and family in a traditional patriarchal society.

Deniz Cakir was outstanding as the main character: Iffet was a convincing character besieged by a life of misfortune. I was annoyed that the writers did not allow much personal growth and display of strength, but rather had her remain attached to her constant state of sadness, her unnecessary self-sabotage and weakness (painted as goodness). It grew tedious to watch. Her wide innocence and gentle falsetto tones at the start was endearing.

To be honext, I watched this series just for Ibrahim Celikkol. And as always, he was amazing as the Main Love Interest: Cemil is the perfect handsome abusive anti-hero. Many convincing and painful scenes to watch which included a surprising depiction of rape...Very surprising particularly for a Turkish Drama which tends to be more conservative (By north American Standards). Ibrahim was a total star in his role portrayal. The writers however allowed several redemption arcs which endeared him despite his horrible temper and many faults. I am not sure a female writer would have given the character so many redemptive opportunities, and I found that I grew annoyed with myself when he won my sympathy!! Thats a tribute to excellect writing, acting and directing!!.

Other fantastic actors were Memet Cevik as Ifett's Father. Her was excellent in the role,,,although the bulging wide eyed look was overused.

Mahir Gunsiray as Ali Ihsan perfected the Psychopathic role. This for me was the most surprising development.

Zuhal Olcay as Dilek, Melike Guner as Betul and Birsen Durulu were excellent antagonists. Again, I wished the writers gave Dilek an arc opportunity, or at least let us understand her pathology

Overall, the series would have scored 9/10 if they didn't rely so heavily on the retrospective scenes, We don't need to see the memory collages so frequently, they were unnecessary time fillers.

I hated 3 things about the script - The return to poverty made no sense given the opportunities and mentorship. I would have liked to see a more successful outcome. The second disappointment was the ridicuolous parenting relationship with Mehmet,,,when they live in front of each other. And of course the biggest disappointment is the end...but then Turkish writers are committed to annoying their audiences with the most unhappy endings they can think of.

Incredible acting, enjoyed it, but completely unacceptable ending!
thereselangford-745791 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Looking at the other reviews, it seems if I do include spoilers my review may be taken down so there's no point. I thought this was brilliant. The actors were wonderful. Cemil's character was very good. I did not enjoy Iffet's character as she did some very strange things and wasn't very clever at all. Every idea she had was worse than the last. And the ending was totally unacceptable. It just doesn't work. I think the producers were trying to be too clever. No need. This is entertainment. People want to feel good. Another criticism is that some of the characters never developed. Ali Irshan was possibly the only character who changed when he lost his mind. The others remained the same. Dilek learned nothing from her experiences for example.
