Just a short review today! Loved this episode, brilliant humor, awesome references e.g Daft Punk, Asterix, Alvin & the Chipmunks, WHU, Protozoa Records = Amoeba Music - so well fitting.

A standard message about being yourself presented in the usual humorous fashion that we've come to expect. Dan Castellaneta and the supporting cast are shown at their near best, and guest stars in the form of the cool family are well adapted to the show. All round good Simpsons episode! Agree with Robert David Sullivan from 'The A.V Club' - a solid B+ episode, consistently funny.

Some people have criticised the Simpsons in the last few seasons but I think they're coming back fighting and this episode is a shining example of that.

Great Message That People Should Know,
lesleyharris301 May 2013
The Day The Earth Stood Cool is a fantastic Simpsons episode with a lot of really funny scenes. The episode offers a really good message, telling you how being cool isn't a really important thing, and it doesn't really matter, this is something a lot of people should know, and makes this message stand out well as it shows Homer becoming obsessed with being cool.I really enjoyed Patton Oswalts's guest appearance as T-Rex,he did a really good job,and his voice blended in unexpectedly well with the young kid. This episode is certainly a lot of fun.

When Homer becomes obsessed with impressing his new neighbor,he begins constantly trying to be cool, and Bart and Lisa make quick friends with the family's son as well, but Marge is not in favour of it.

The Simpsons The Day the Earth Stood Cool

Warning: Spoilers
Homer is in the park and while talking to someone younger then him is called grandpa of Bart. Homer then at work misses out on a special donut which is made only once a day missing out. Homer talks to the donut maker who he cannot believe is a father like him. He meets his family who are also cool. Homer brings his family along with him telling them to be cool and not embarrassing. The Simpsons make their way into the family and while everyone seems open to the idea of these new people Marge questions being friends with them. Marge sees more and more what these neighbours are doing to the kids and does not like it. Homer and the family go to T-Rex's party with Marge still continuing to complain that it does not look like a child's birthday. Marge is asked to join a mommy circle who do not like her giving the bottle to the baby rather then natural breast feeding. Bary sees T-Rex does not like much of the gifts he got for his birthday which causes Bary and the son to fight each other. Homer is then left out of the inner circle. Homer then finds out what his family thinks of their new neighbours which ends the friendship. The parents sit down insulting each other about their parenting techniques. The neighbours then say that people like them are coming to Springfield which changes everything in town and the Simpson's do not like what they see. Marge and Homer go through town confused by everything that has changed. Bart and the neighbours son start to hang out which starts a fire in their back garden. The Simpsons plus the other neighbours save the day by stopping the fire after working together. Lisa wants to be taken from Springfield but is left behind to life in Springfield. OK episode with not much funny references throughout.

EPISODE GRADE: C+ (MVP: Dan Castellaneta)
