Exclusive: No decision has been made official, but sources tell Deadline that New Line is the favorite to land the package that is based on the biography The Chris Farley Show with Paul Walter Hauser attached to play the legendary comedian. The pitch is based on the book by Farley’s brother Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby and will be adapted by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber with Josh Gad directing. Lorne Michaels, who found and cast Farley in Saturday Night Live in the ’90s, is producing through his Broadway Video.
Insiders say the family has given their blessing to the project. The studio had no comment.
The film would tell the story of one of the great comic actors of his generation. Getting his start in the second heyday of Saturday Night Live, where Farley would join an ensemble of all-time SNL greats including Adam Sandler, David Spade,...

Divergent star Shailene Woodley has some dietary and beauty habits that would seem extremely weird to others. Her unusual diet includes eating one thing that, well, humans don’t consume in general. However, she took up the practice of eating clay after hearing about it from an African cab driver. This man told The Spectacular Now actress that even the pregnant woman in his culture would eat the clay and acquire great benefits from it.

However, Woodley was unable to answer a question about how to differentiate clay from dirt. Since, none of the actress’s health and beauty tips are backed by undeniable scientific proof, it is highly recommended that readers do not engage in them without proper information or advice.

Here's a lesson for the kids out there: speak your dreams into existence and maybe, just maybe, they'll actually come true. Tragically, those who follow the comedy scene closely know that it's littered with high-profile examples of beloved talent who ended up burning out and leaving us far too soon. This one, however, might end up circling back to the best of silver linings.
Today's news has to do with Chris Farley, the late, great "Saturday Night Live" actor and comedian who passed away at the age of 33 back in 1997. He may not be as well-known a quantity among younger generations, but their older siblings and parents can certainly fill them in on the prolific, scene-stealing theatrics of the man who rose to prominence through "SNL" and subsequently made audiences cry with laughter in movies such as "Wayne's World" and its sequel, "Coneheads," "Airheads," and even an uncredited role in Adam Sandler's "Billy Madison.

The latest John Green book to get the adaptation treatment is 2017’s “Turtles All the Way Down,” his follow-up to worldwide smash “The Fault in Our Stars.”
“Turtles All the Way Down,” per a press release, “tackles anxiety through its 17-year-old protagonist, Aza Holmes (Isabela Merced).” It continues, “It’s not easy being Aza, but she’s trying… trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control. When she reconnects with Davis, her childhood crush, Aza is confronted with fundamental questions about her potential for love, happiness, friendship, and hope.”
Interestingly, this description doesn’t mention a key aspect of the book — a hunt for a reclusive billionaire — so time will tell how much the film adaptation plays with the source material. The YA book drew praise upon release for its frank...

The animated adaptations of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings from the 1970s and 1980s have a bit of a bad reputation these days, but these are not entirely deserved. In particular, Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass’ 1977 TV movie of The Hobbit, with a screenplay by Romeo Miller, gets a lot of things right that Peter Jackson’s three-part live-action film adaptation did not.
The most obvious advantage that the animated version has over the live-action films is its length. The fact that the live-action movies are too long is pretty well-established, but by way of a reminder, the book of The Hobbit is about 300 pages long, with slight variations in each edition. Other books of similar length that have been adapted into films include Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Emma Donoghue’s Room, John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, and Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.

This year marks 30 years since Bob Byington’s first feature, though it’s only during the last 15 of those — since SXSW midnight-movie breakout “Rso: Registered Sex Offender” — that the Austin-based director has enjoyed “indie darling” status. During that same stretch, the cultural discourse has changed a great deal, while Byington’s voice remains remarkably (if somewhat frustratingly) consistent, churning out self-deprecating feature-length sitcoms about flaccid man-babies. Those aren’t the kind of movies American festivals are looking for so much anymore, which could explain why his latest, “Lousy Carter,” wound up premiering abroad, at the Locarno Film Festival.
Locarno’s programmers typically gravitate toward austere, experimental and/or formally audacious works of cinema. “Lousy Carter” is none of these things, but neither is it lousy. That unfortunate moniker belongs to the film’s lead character, a lumpy failed animator turned tenured literature professor, who’s rendered all the more pathetic...

Emily Deschanel, Sam Trammell and Noma Dumezweni lead “ReEntry,” the first film from the production company PlotNaut, helmed by filmmakers Brendan Choisnet and Daniel Nayeri.
The sci-fi romance stars Deschanel as Elenore, a woman grappling the disappearance of her husband (Trammell), after he enlists in a scientific experiment run by Dumezweni’s character. But, a year later he returns, and she learns he’s from a parallel dimension. She soon has to decide whether to pursue the man who is 99% of the husband she married or wait for the return of the man she once knew.
Deschanel is best known for her 12-year run on the hit Fox series “Bones,” as well as the drama “Continue” and most recently Netflix’s “Devil in Ohio.” Likewise, Trammell starred for seven seasons on “True Blood,” as well as “Homeland” and “The Fault in Our Stars” and Dumezweni most recently starred in “The Little Mermaid,...

Shailene Woodley is widely recognised for a lot of the work she did when she was younger, including the Divergent films, The Fault in our Stars, and The Descendents for which she got a Golden Globe nomination. As the actress has grown older, she is experimenting more confidently with her career. The sci-fi romance comedy, Robots, is the latest outlier in her filmography and is Shailene Woodley’s most recent foray into comedy. In Robots, Woodley is cast alongside Jack Whitehall. She plays 3 characters, Elaine who uses robot doubles called E2 and E3, to manipulate men while Whitehall is Chris,...

Shailene Woodley once teamed up with Ansel Elgort for the sci-fi series Divergent. But it wasn’t the only feature the two worked together in. They would also link up for the hit film The Fault in Our Stars, where Woodley tried to give Elgort some helpful grooming tips.

Woodley and Elgort became good friends after their work together in the Divergent franchise. So when they collaborated for a second time in the feature The Fault in Our Stars, the transition was a smooth process. This time the two would be love interests in the film.
This once prompted GQ (via Cliche Mag) to ask Woodley who was the better onscreen lover between Elgort and her other Divergent co-star Miles Teller.

Shailene Woodley once made a career out of playing young characters. Projects like Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Descendants frequently saw her in the shoes of a teenager. But for the actor, The Fault in Our Stars bookmarked a shift in her career.
The feature saw Woodley and co-star Ansel Elgort playing two cancer-stricken young lovers. But when rewatching the film, Woodley realized her days of playing teenaged characters were coming to an end.
“We filmed it in August, and I saw the rough cut in December,” she once told MTV News.

In a startling video released on Friday, veteran YouTube personality Hank Green told his three million subscribers that he has Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Green has been around since YouTube’s early days, active since 2007. He also hosts podcasts with his brother John Green, author of “The Fault in Our Stars.”
“So there have been a bunch of times over the last few weeks where this has become more and more real. This is the big one,” Green said at the top.
“I noticed that my lymph nodes were big. I talked to my doctor. She said, ‘It’s probably nothing. We’ll send you in for an ultrasound.’ I got an ultrasound, and the tech in the ultrasound room was like, ‘I’m going to go get a doctor.’ That’s not what you want to have happened,” he continued.

In the sixth episode of the Apple TV+ comedy, AFC Richmond venture to Amsterdam for an exhibition match. Though they lose, Coach Ted (Jason Sudeikis) gives his team a curfew-free night post-match. “Daisy Jones & the Six” has arrived. Fans of the bestselling Taylor Jenkins Reid novel of the same name have been anxiously awaiting Amazon Prime Video’s TV series adaptation of the book, and the story of this fictional 1970s rock band is unfolding over a number of weeks on the streaming service.
The story is one told in a grand flashback, as members of the titular band sit down for a documentary about their rise (and fall?) and the show then presents the story as it happened back in the ’70s. The book is a full-on oral history, but in the TV series, what we see is what actually happened – not peoples’ own versions of events – so we witness how Sam Claflin’s rocker Billy Dunne reluctantly allows aspiring songwriter and performer Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) to work on one of The Six’s songs. Daisy Jones & the Six may be the most-read-about fake band in history. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel about a fictional seventies rock group of the same name has sold well over a million copies and has a bonkers 940,000 ratings on literary social media hub Goodreads — so the pressure to deliver a TV version is a bit higher than with most adaptions.

Sharper is a thriller movie directed by Benjamin Caron with Julianne Moore, Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, Briana Middleton and John Lithgow.
An elegant and very classic thriller you can enjoy this Friday on Apple TV+.
This movie knows how to balance a slow technique, brilliant actors and classic plot which is totally familiar.
Movie Review
A paused rhythm for this movie about tricksters that is totally predictable and yet manages to fool us from its direct title and its “film noir” look, studied and elegant: it does not bring us anything new and does not promise to do so either, but the entire setting, the characters and its giddy calm rhythm knows how to work with precision to do the exact thing it needs to do at each moment, without getting lost or trying to invent something new.
Needless to say that this movie would not be anything if Julianne...

Did Christoph Waltz freak you out in "Inglorious Basterds?" He has the creepy smile thing absolutely mastered, and we're about to see it again in the upcoming Prime Video series, "The Consultant." In the show, Waltz plays Regus Patoff, a consultant who comes into a huge mobile video game company called CompWare after the CEO shoots himself. He's not exactly a comforting presence, sniffing employees to decide if they stay at the company and trimming his nose hairs in the office. I apologize if you were eating when you read that.
The earlier trailer was upsetting enough, but this one is even more unnerving. The show was created by Tony Basgallop and is directed by Matt Shakman. Shakman's style is all over this trailer, which feels at points as though you're supposed to laugh when things are looking rather murder-y. It's like the camera has very good comic timing yet...

When the category is “rich horny teens,” television rarely fails.
From the dawn of “Beverly Hills 90210” to the heyday of “The O.C.” to our current era of “Euphoria” and more, filmmakers are clearly enamored with the lifestyles of the rich, famous, and too-young-to-know-better. Netflix’s latest addition to this glut of raunchy rebellion is “Class,” a Hindi adaptation of the streamer’s Spanish-language original series “Elite” from producer Ashim Ahluwalia.
Set at a wealthy private school in New Delhi, “Class” chronicles the unraveling of a delicately balanced coterie of upperclassmen after the addition of three new scholarship students. Dheeraj (Piyush Khati), Saba (Madhyama Segal), and Balli (Cwaayal Singh) throw Hampton International into freefall, forcing the supercilious student body to face down their most unsettling desires, biases, and foibles. Months after their arrival, a student has been murdered, and everyone is a suspect.

If 2022 and the preceding years haven't been dystopian enough for you, Prime Video has just the thing to fill you with dread. Today, the streaming service released a new teaser trailer for "The Consultant," a series based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Bentley Little. The show was created by Tony Basgallop and directed by Matt Shakman.
In the teaser, we meet the very creepy Mr. Patoff, played by Christoph Waltz ("Inglorious Basterds"), who has been hired as a consultant when a gaming company called CompWare begins to decline. He's an interesting guy -- very meticulous, clipping his nose hairs in the office and generally freaking everyone out. The company employees begin to suspect that he's more sinister than even that nose hair thing makes him seem. In fact, stray nose hairs are the least of these people's worries.

After nearly a decade together, Ansel Elgort and Violetta Komyshan's relationship is officially over. Komyshan confirmed the news in a Nov. 15 interview with E! News and said she's enjoying being single.
"I think it's fun," she told the outlet at an event celebrating the Brooklyn Museum's new exhibition for legendary designer Thierry Mugler. Komyshan then advised other single women to turn their attention to their own lives and the things they love. "Focus on your work and your passions," she said. "I'm 26, so right now is the age to push ahead and focus on that - on yourself."
Elgort and Komyshan began dating in 2012 when they were teenagers at New York's Laguardia High School. "I was with my friend, and he was walking down the block. I didn't even know he went to my school - I just thought he was really attractive. I looked at him and told my friend,...
