Bonnie is about to give birth, but Will has vanished, and gone off the rails, getting into a fight in a small village. Geordie as ever comes to Will's rescue, and the pair end up doing what they do best, investigating a double murder.
The turnaround in this and the previous episode over the middle part of this series is seismic, I get that this final episode may have been a little bit syrupy, but the storyline of Will killing the guy on his bike was quite bleak, it needed a sweeter ending.
The main story of the kids and the 2 deaths was good, it felt like vintage Granchester, how wonderful to see Mark Benton, what a class act he is.
Will seeing the problems of this own life through that lad's was very nicely done. I thought I read somewhere that it was curtains for Will, I'm glad I was wrong.
Larry's turnaround has also been quite something, he was unbearable, now he's somewhat likeable.
Leonard and Daniel's story was quite sweet.
Lovely.
