This script was written by Steve Wargo in 2001 and production began in 2005. However, writer/director Steve Wargo, was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident where he fractured 25 bones including 13 vertebrae, 7 ribs, right hip and a broken jawbone. After suffering a heart attack in 2011, he decided that it was time to move on this project or he might never get it done.
Originally named "Chemtrails, DFA", the name Poison Sky came to Steve Wargo during a conversation with a friend on what the movie is about.
Although the film was scheduled to be shot on a Sony F-900, advancements in digital acquisition dictated the purchase of a Sony F-3 in early 2012 and it was upgraded to the S-Log Option. The team is shooting 4:4:4 to a PIX 240i HD capture device. Wargo owns a production company and has a regular crew that is capturing some fantastic footage that will be color timed in Davinci Resolve and edited in Adobe Premier 6.0 on a ProMax Hero edit machine.
After 10 years of investigating Chemtrails, Wargo is convinced that something is going on up there. The clouds are different now. Look for yourself. He says that Poison Sky is "Based on a True Theory", a phrase that he has coined.
Production is evenly split between the Metro Phoenix Area and the former capitol, Prescott with another location being in beautiful Pine, Arizona.
