Nicely visual, but still just a promo

I'm no big fan of Flying Lotus but I do like his music in small doses and this short film is essentially a promo for another project I think. The light electronic music plays out over scenes of the aftermath of violence which give way into an odd performance. There is little here in terms of plot and indeed with the music being so lightly applied, it isn't really a music video either. What it does though is deliver very strong images which are full of interest and color. Children, gangs, cars, violence, sunsets and the projects of LA all feature here and it looks beautiful throughout.

The striking color of blood, of a sunset, of a dark street is really well captured by cinematographer Lloyd and it makes the film engaging even though there is little else here. Worth seeing for the images although beyond that there is not too much to draw you here as a casual viewer.
