Over-the-top action, cheesy dialogue, and all your favorite characters from the series. This movie is by no means a masterpiece, however, if you're a fan of the series who's able to suspend your belief and manage your expectations, you might find this movie fun to watch, especially if you enjoyed the previous Resident Evil CGI movies.

What I loved about the movie is its dedication to the series and detail-oriented approach in terms of characters and their personalities, for example, Leon has his usual corny (yet adorable) one-liners, while Jill (modeled after her RE 3 Remake appearance) was passionate, emotional, and at the same time, trying to look as serious as she can.

Go see it if you're a fan, if not, don't, there's isn't much to see here.

It's business as usuall for the resident evil avengers.

Characters are a bit stiff outside of the fluid fight scenes. The plot is another 'rando bad guy is angy somehow gets their hands on tech / scientist and decides to destroy the world to rebuild in their image, cliche, cringe, nothing new.

This film won't break any records or win many awards if any ( probs should get a nomination for the visuals as some are amazing almost real ).

Fans will enjoy the nods to the previous entries of the franchise and it probs won't be the last cgi movie.

Direction, audio, music all pretty good and the cast knows what their doing.

Bottom line is if you're a fan of resident evil cgi movies this is more of the same in another iconic locale.

Everybody wanted to finally see Jill debut in the action movies. 4 movies and 1 short series and she was nowhere to be found.

And seeing everybody together.. real nice... but the positives end there..

wait, judging by Chris and Jill's chat, the story is after RE .. but why does she look like RE3 remake?

Ok, you can say she dyed her hair back to her natural color.. sure.. and exact hair style as in RE3.. sure.. but no huge scar on her chest?

The story made no sense.. dude is like an operative like Hunk.. his team dies.. he kills his best friend and then he becomes crazy trying to create a virus to kill the world?

What? Why not join the gang and fight Umbrella?

Jill was made to be the strongest clearly because durig RE6 Leon and Chris fight was a draw but clearly Jill had the upper hand with Leon.. She got a kick in, threw him and pretty much had both of his hands under her control.. whereas he did not manage to any hit in..

the last fight was the best part of the movie.. and yeah, like another reviewers said.. the women dont age apparently.. Rebecca looks like she didnt age a bit even after over 20 years of RE1.. she looks 25.. only Leon and Chris look to be late 30s.

Same old recipe

I'm not too familiar with the Resident Evil game franchise, however I have seen all the movie adaptations and thought most of them are stupid fun. I was never a huge fan of animated stuff but since I rather enjoyed the animated movies from Resident Evil I thought this might be good. Also the title death Island sounded promising to me and with the movie taking place on Alcatraz, I thought you would be able to make something interesting from the setting. Well after seeing this I felt like we've seen it all before. The usual recipe for the animated Resident Evil franchise but with an even more massive fight at the end and an interesting new way to infect the people. Also the movie was definitely more action than horror. All in all it was just nothing new and had the same cool action scenes but also weaknesses, like our heroes surviving everything and didn't even get a scratch which made you not feel worried about them for a second. Another thing is, in the end fight there are conveniently placed weapons everywhere, which was not logical and only served the plot. I think for fans of the franchise this movie will not disappoint but also definitely is no masterpiece. [6,3/10]

Better than expected.

I have watched all the previous animated films that is at home since they were direct to video. This is the first film I have watched at the cinema. The previous movies were not at all as good as this one and it shows. They put a lot more care into the characters this time.

And the story is pretty decent for a resident evil movie. Much better than the forgettable Netflix series and the live action movie from a couple years ago.

Good voice acting, which is expected considering they are mostly the same from the resident evil remake games.

There were some cheesy one liners from leon which was nice, a few dumb jokes but enjoyable ones.

Pleasing action thats over the top that would be satisfying for any fan of the franchise.

And overall a decent ending to the movie.

It's not too long and is an enjoyable movie if you like the games.

Would definitely recommend seeing it.

Good lookin' but dumb as hell

While Infinite Darkness looked a bit dated, they dialed up path tracing to the max here.

It really looks good most of the time and styled like recent RE game remakes.

That's about it.

Although, you could say the "movie" is very efficient... short is maybe a better word for it. Action kicks off right away and it's dumb, so dumb.

Plot is on par with previous non-game entries, nothing really important to the overall plot. A side mission if you will, against some random evil doers. Zero horror, all the action. No stakes. Life saving chekhov's gun is mentioned 10 minutes into the movie and is used at appropriate time. No surprises.

It really is a placeholder, a franchise promo so you don't forget for five minues it exists.

Is the plot relevant? No. Is the action engaging? Somewhat. Are the characters immersive? No.

Listen, Resident Evil is here a long time and when you look at it, starting from the first game there is something Resident Evil almost every year since - so I'm not expecting someting mind blowing, given the way whole franchise jumped the shark multiple times during these almost 30 years. But, I'm still hoping to see one solid, good RE movie or at least above average animated feature. And it's just not coming.

Could you watch this? Sure. Should you watch this? Maybe, it's your time, do with it what you will but don't expect top tier horror animated action movie. It is schlock with dumb script and it looks good.

Good but short. Not epic enough.

I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil games and all the movies. So, naturally, I had big expectations for this movie. For the first time, we saw Chris, Leon, Jill, Claire and Rebecca together and I cant say that I'm disappointed, but I'm also not very satisfied. The story is good, nothing special but good enough. The villain is very archetypal but it has some interesting details. The most important thing is that the five main characters are great. They act as you may expect, having known them from the video games and such.

Now, the reason why I think it is not great and just good. It's all part of one problem: it's too short. Normally, talking about movies, people complain about the opposite, that movies are too long, but this is a special case. This movie lasts almost 90 minutes. It is very short and it feels that way. It should last at least 30 minutes more. The problem is that this movie should be epic, but it doesn't have enough time to be. Because you need time to build expectations and create emotion. You have five main characters and a villain. Each of them needs screen time. Everything happens very fast and you don't get any time to digest this epic reunion.

This is supposed to be like The Avengers for Resident Evil fans; all your heroes together at last. But it ended up too quickly and didn't exploit any of the big moments that we waited years to see.

Ah, resident evil!

From low-tech horror to sci-fi garbage. It sure is fun to see Chris repeatedly punch a giant boulder, or fight against the law-defiant Wesker in the video games! But it's no secret the franchise has nowhere to go and can only keep chasing its tail with a variation of the same premise! The initial Raccoon incident and exploration of the source of the problem were interesting and different at the time.. Now I'm honestly REALLY tired of these churned out products that amount to nothing!! At least it finally seems like they are connecting the stories somewhat, with reference to events from Vendetta, RE6 and previous game entries. Death Island continues to give a simplistically boring premise, and a continuation of pointless B Stories where the good guys stop a disposable villain that hates the world and makes a new iteration of the "virus".. while ultimately being nothing but a nuisance for a while. Lows takes, repeated stakes!

But worse of all is how insulting it ends up being to me as a viewer. For example : 1. The dialogue being atrocious! And it's very strange to see Jill Valentine groan at Leon's one liners and even insults Chris' heavy handedness. I wonder what the point of that was.. 2. The introduction of a foot soldier becoming a trafficking tech-villain capable of creating a new virus that doesn't spread and turns people rather quickly.. except when it doesn't. There's no tension, and repercussions are easily fixed.

3. It was nice to see Maria Gomez again, the powerful killing machine that can't kill anyone. Very representative of the whole thing.

4. An "Avengers moment" with all the known cast in service of nothing, being rather lame to witness.

5. Contrived confrontation with final threat with a convenient Armory around (Plasma Rifle included).

Sure, these continue to be visually impressive (from the models, the movement and the choreographies).. but the line "Looks like us suckers win. Again" being followed by "And they'll keep coming back for more!" was rather depressing. To top it all with "But we sure did kick some ass, didn't we?" was enough to feel like being bullied and kicked in the balls for liking Resident Evil!!

But I'm definitely sure that countries like Svetlana's wagging BOW wars against one another for power.. and for characters to become super powered beings while slugging it out wouldn't be any better. Whoever is in charge of these better change his perspective instead of being considered a joke.

Better than expected

Primarily, this movie should not be seen as anything other than a fun popcorn action flick with a ton of fan service. Following that notion there are standalone good things about this movie and certainly some bad.

As CG movies go, this one is neither great nor is it really bad. It's OK and it fulfills its primary intention - entertain the audience for an hour and a half (-ish).

The good elements are that the movie follows the lore of the game and it does that quite tightly. So, fans of the video games will immediately recognize all the reference points upon which the story is based.

The great thing this movie does is depicting Jill's coping with her RE5 past. Since we have not seen her since that game in the narrative continuation (aside from the RE3 Remake), it is nice to see some development for her character. And this is the movie's strongest point. Jill's internal struggles are what drives this movie to an interesting connection with the story's main antagonist. The need for coping with past problems and trauma is a very deep theme that RE Death Island tackles with. Even though it may seem superficial at first, upon further assessment, one can conclude that the way this theme is tackled is not bad at all. In fact, it is actually depicted much better than expected. The main problem is that the story has a lot of "filling" in places that can divert the audience's attention from this theme which is a shame.

The main problem with the movie is its unnecessary assembly of all main RE protagonists. The type of "evil" presented in this movie just doesn't seem to be that big that it warrants a full assembly of all protagonists. Leon's ark in this movie is just not necessary and could have been removed completely. If a bit more focus was present in the overall presentation of the general theme, this would have been a far better movie.

Also, I am not really sure why the movie was not made using the REngine as the graphics seemed sub par to the recent video games, and that is something to hold against the movie.

It is an overall improvement over Infinite darkness, and is not a generally bad movie. It has certain interesting themes it tackles with, but the unnecessary filling with characters and story padding with element derailing from the main interesting themes do hurt the movies overall quality. However, it is fun and it provides a great Sunday afternoon flick.

Just another mass-produced CGI product...

I had never heard about this 2023 CGI animated foray into the "Resident Evil" franchise. But of course I had to sit down and watch it as soon as I had the opportunity to do so.

However, I must admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any grand expectations for it, since the majority of the released CGI animated movies have been mediocre at best. But still, I opted to give writer Makoto Fukami and director Eiichirô Hasumi's movie a fair chance.

The storyline in "Resident Evil: Death Island" was simplistic and straight forward, and thus it requires zero interaction from the audience. You just simply lean back and watch Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine take on yet another outbreak of T-virus infected. So it was pretty much a copy-paste job from the numerous of previous CGI movies in the franchise. Except "Resident Evil: Death Island" takes place on Alcatraz island and includes a new method of infection.

So yeah, the storyline was pretty shallow and not overly innovative or refreshing. And the movie did suffer from that. And let's just not venture deeper into the plot holes or questionable things that just happened to be there to further the narrative, such as the conveniently placed rocket launchers, plasma rifle, and what not.

Visually, however, then "Resident Evil: Death Island" was quite nice. The CGI was pretty good and definitely helped to keep "Resident Evil: Death Island" afloat. And of course you have some massive mutation that the gang comes face to face with, gee, where have we seen that before? I have to say that the mutation in "Resident Evil: Death Island" was pretty laughable.

"Resident Evil: Death Island" is just another notch in the "Resident Evil" franchise's belt, though not as abysmal as the God awful Netflix series.

My rating of "Resident Evil: Death Island" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars.

LOL at the whiners. What do they expect??

The movie was good for what it's supposed to be . All the core characters together fighting ramped up zombies, bad people, mutated lickers and a giant monster. Could the voice acting be a bit better? Sure. Have we seen this storyline before? Kinda? So what? Bond hasn't changed much in 60 years. This formula works and it's enjoyable. The animation looks incredibly realistic and the action is spectacular. The animated movies have always been better than most of the live action movies: especially the abomination that was the last one as well as the badly made series. For any fan from the beginning it's a treat for what it is. And that's the problem for some who can't seem to literally enjoy anything these days. That's their problem.

I believe it's what the target audience wanted

This is exactly what I want and expect from those movies. Anything more would be icing on the cake and very welcome but I'll gladly take what I'm given. It's not a cinematic masterpiece with unique and beautiful story, it doesn't mean much for the universe canon and doesn't really advance any events but it is visually stunning and it allows me to watch my favorite characters interact with each other without it requiring the entire game title to be crafted around them which in turn would likely not benefit said game.

TL;DR I had fun watching it. I wouldn't recommend it to many others because they likely aren't the target audience.

I thought it can be good, but it turn out to be Real bad

Story was alright, often times the villain has a big plan to wipe out humanity then gets interrupted by out heroes. It was surprise to see most of the resident evil series characters finally working together in a film and also some easter egg and reminder about what happened before this film.

But here it comes, the thing that was fall short of this film, I didn't watch much of the trailer and news about this movie but rather some side information, but after watching the whole film, I can conclude it as the zombies scene were minimal like it's a resident evil film, I was expecting to see more zombies or any bio terrorist's sick invention monsters. But rather only few scenes that seen our heroes were fighting and the whole film only sets on the island like the title of the movie. Lots of explanation coming from the villain but why can't the villain did something more meaningful like releasing the virus/ drones toward the world a little earlier? I couldn't even see any large scale infection or any big scale scene within this probably due to the limitation of sponsors.

But anyway i was quite anticipate for this movie due to the year is 2023 already, and I was hoping to see much changes to the film formula, but still everything's quite linear, Villain shows up > causes few casualties > heroes come save the day aka no plot twist.

4/10.

A Resident Evil movie connected to the games that brings most classic main protagonist all together

This movie was better than I expected it to be. The Resident Evil game franchise has jumped the shark more than once with games like Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 and while the new first person RE games are good on their on, they simply stretched to far away what I consider to be Resident Evil.

Anyway, back to the movie. The positives first, the characters. I always loved the series for its characters. Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire, Rebecca etc. Are all just amazing and having them all in one movie is great. The villains motivations bring us back to 1998 in Raccoon City which is a nice call back. He himself isn't anything special compared to the likes of Wesker or Alexia and his plans are kinda over the top but whatever.

Speaking about over the top. The action isn't as over the top as in RE Vendetta, thanks god, but I would have still prefered it to be more grounded in reality with more normal human like protagonists or characters for that matter. A certain character from the previous movie returns and they make this movie go more over the top than it should have been. RE should focus more on horror than action after all but Capcom again tries to please anyone I guess.

I enjoyed this movie overall but RE hasn't been great since Code Veronica and should have ended a long time ago, but I guess someone has to milk their cash cow.

7/10 infected moaning zombies.

A fun love letter to fans of the series.

I've tried to keep this as spoiler-free as possible.

On the more negative side, Rebecca didn't do much in the movie, and neither she or Claire really actively fought in the final battle, which kinda sucks. The facial animations look very stiff and limited, and I do take some level of issues with the character models, since Jill is ripped straight from RE3make with no signs of what happened to her in RE5 (no traces of blonde or longer hair, no chest scarring, etc.), so even the T-Virus excuse for her looking the same doesn't entirely hold up. I mean, it does kinda suggest that she looks the exact same in 2023 as she did in 1998, which is a full 25 years later, and slow aging or not, that just doesn't make sense. Additionally, there's really no excuse for Claire and Rebecca to look so young since they were never infected before but still look like they're in their early 20s even though they should be a decade older than that. Frankly, Rebecca seems to look even younger in this than she did in Vendetta, and I can only assume that it's because they're using a potential model for RE0make, because there's no other explanation that makes any sense. Some of the voice acting is really stiff at times, too, and both certain lines and shots look like they were made specifically for the trailer as opposed to being organically inserted into the film. Finally, while I'll speak more on him positively, I do want to note that the main villain (Dylan) has no explained reason for singling Jill out the way he does.

On the more positive side, through the bulk of the movie, no one is really nerfed. Claire's on her A-game and is just as badass as ever, and Jill is unambiguously the film's main character and heroine. This is especially notable given how the series has sidelined its leading ladies for about a decade now. Claire's more hot-tempered personality is shown, which is pretty nice. Also, Claire and Rebecca have a really cute moment together at the end that I am entirely sure was thrown in for Chamberfield shippers. It's true that facial animations weren't great, and sometimes, I also noticed that some characters hold guns in awkward poses, but legitimately every other part of the animation is spectacular. The fight choreography is absolutely insane and well-done. I did complain about the age related parts of character models, but other than that, everything looks great. The details in the designs were truly wonderful. And while I did highlight some of the voice acting as stiff, for others (such as Leon and Claire especially), it's phenomenal. I also want to specifically highlight the new licker design because it looks grotesque and intimidating, and that's exactly what I want out of B. O. W. Designs. The visuals in general are stunning, and it can be truly seen in certain close-ups on weapons and characters. Finally, while I did complain about Dylan not really having a reason to single out Jill, literally every other part of his writing is spectacular. He has an understandable backstory and motivation and even makes solid points detracting from the main characters, and it looks like that is going to influence them in the future. Finally, the best point I can make about the film is that, at the end of the day, it feels like it was made for fans of the series, and I can really appreciate that.

The Fast & The Dead Resident

Since this is an animated movie the first thing to look at are the graphics. While environments, weapons, lighting etc. Are decent, the character animation is bland and the motion capure absolutely horrible. The action and physics are Fast & Furious level bad, the dialogues and interactions are cringe and the "bad guy" is just bad ... not in the sense of evil, he just has terrible dialogue, incomprehensible actions and motivations and says dumb stuff to establish "how evil" he is. To me this looked like someone recreated some RE fqn-fiction in The SIms !!!

Only 30 minutes in and all I wanted to do is to switch it off and do something else, more relevant, like for example watching paint dry for another hour.

Same as everything over these last few years, anime too has gone down the hill with bland scenarios, bland strory-telling and bland characters who CONSTANTLY have to expose their feelings (because for the "modern audience" this seems to be the only thing of importance). My last enjoyable anime experience after a long time full of nothing-burgers was W40K-Angels of Death and since then again NOTHING.

Resident Evil has in my opinion outlived its expiration date and we all need to be vaccinated not against the T-virus, but against remakes, reboots, rehashes, cash-grabs and particularly against bad RE movies, TV shows and anime. Anderson's first movie was a nice surprise and made Zombie movies popular again, opening the way for movies and shows like TWD, WW-Z etc. .... and his movie already was only so-so (at least Marylin Mansion's OST was superbe).

This here is another stinker, better sit it out.

A Zombie-Filled Adventure That Satisfies But Does Not Surprise

Resident Evil: Death Island is a fun and thrilling ride for fans of the video game franchise and the animated films. The film delivers on the action, horror and fan service that one would expect from a Resident Evil movie, with impressive animation, voice acting and music. The film also has some interesting twists and surprises that keep the plot engaging and unpredictable. The film is not without its flaws, however, as some of the characters are underdeveloped, some of the dialogue is cheesy, and some of the scenes are too dark or blurry to see clearly. The film also suffers from a lack of originality, as it borrows heavily from previous Resident Evil games and movies, and does not offer much new or innovative to the series. Overall, Resident Evil: Death Island is a solid and enjoyable entry in the animated Resident Evil series, but not a groundbreaking or memorable one.

IDK why they keep making resident evil movies they are dumb af

I watched all of the animated and live action movies beside the Netflix show and every one of them are dumbest movies I ever seen. Resident evil games works because they are games! The same plot doesn't work with movies and shows. I don't even wanted to finish the movie because I already knew what's going to happen.

This movie looks fine compared to the pervious animated shows and movies but the plot and plot armor seems to be the same. The same old stupid villain which the movie try to make look smart but at the end they are just big ugly monsters which can't even able to scratch any of the cast I want to see some deaths and blood when they are fighting these monsters but able to get defeat them with ease these people aren't super solider every other solider and people dying around them but only the main cast able to survive any odds. The end boss battle is the stupidest scene I ever seen in a movie they were just standing in front of the monster like its just Tuesday and there were all kind of weapons of there to fight the monster lmao. Why there is boss battles in these movies in the first place this isn't a game it works sometimes but they are doing this in most of the RE movies.

Movies needs different tone and plot from the games make more mature story for set of films with an ending. Where character lives are at stake I don't want plot armor in horror genre let people die make better stories instead of making tons of average RE content.

I think RE franchise have potential I wish someone able to give the franchise justice.

Better than Infinite Darkness... (Not saying much)

Not really saying much but it is better than the straight to Netflix mini series but like I said in my review for that, these movies are running out of steam.

For starters, animation is better than Infinite Darkness was, even if some of the animations still look janky (like leon with no helmet flying off the motorcycle in the first 5 minutes looked ridiculous) Its weird because the first three had such solid animation. I don't understand how it got worse with time.

Everything *looks* good though. Especially on the clothing and weapons even though it almost sounds like they used the same sound bite for every gun in the movie. The action scenes were great loved seeing Jill and Leon finally team up. The movie also tied up the loose ends from Vendetta.

BIG bonus points for Matt Mercer coming back to voice Leon again. This is the first resident evil media I've seen in a while that really made me feel like I was watching Leon on screen again. His newer VA's in the games and Infinite darkness just aren't it. Matt brings that iconic Leon personality back and it's very welcomed back.

There were some really cool monster designs for the first time in a while and I was pleasantly surprised they didn't just reuse the tyrant as the final movie boss again.

Now the first three movies while not perfect are really awesome and had some cool villains with decent motivations but the movies are sharing the same problems the games have had since 5.

There is no overarching story, there is no main plot anymore. As a result, all of these villains quite literally have the exact same motivations. "I hate the world, we need to clean the slate".

They've used it so many times and at this point it's so boring and predictable. I think there was HUGE missed opportunity with the villain in this one. Making him a former soldier from Umbrella that was in Raccoon City is cool and they could've maybe even tied him in with characters like HUNK but they didn't.

Ada also has been absent from anything RE related in the timeline (not counting remakes) since RE6 and Damnation and I feel like the plot could've benefited from her addition probably more than Rebecca who basically just did what she did in Vendetta.

A lot of the plot has been basically just a rehash of the last 3 CGI movies.

It's pretty generic and extremely predictable but it has its moments and is fun. If you're a die hard fan of the series check it out, if you're just starting out. Degeneration and Damnation are significantly better films that try to do what this does.

I wish it wasn't full CGI

When started to stream this movie, I didn't realize it is a full CGI creation. When I finished watching this movie I was surprised to see voice actors was involved, as I thought the dialogues were for sure done with AI artificial voices. They were so soulless during the movie that I almost turned it off at some point. What kept me going was a great action scenes, slow-motion and nice monsters.

To be honest, watching this movie is like watching a series of a game cut-scenes. Granted these cut-scenes are very well made, it still at a level of a gaming studio and not a movie production. This made it very hard for me to rate it anything over a '5'.

I couldn't help but thinking how good this movie could have been if the actors were actually real human (like the legendary Milla Jovovich) that are able to provoke emotions with language that sound human and body movements that are not robotic as the result of the 3D models that are used here. That totally ruined a reasonably good story and great fighting scenes, but that movie would prob cost north of 200M to make.

I will keep watching the "Resident Evil" franchise since most of the creations are exciting. I heard Netflix series is coming soon, maybe that is something to look forward to, hopefully at the level of "The Last of Us" but "Resident Evil: Death Island" does not provide the entertainment that the viewers deserve.

The Best Resident Evil CGI Movie ever

I recently had the opportunity to warch Resident Evil Death Island and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. As a fan of the series, it was exciting to see how the CGI graphics have evolved since the first installment. The attention to detail was impressive and the use of the RE3 remake's RE Engine for Jill Valentine's appearance was a smart choice. The movie felt like a redemption arc for Jill after her long disappearance since 2009. It was gratifying to see her character brought back to the forefront and given the attention she deserves. One of the things that stood out to me was how the movie did an excellent job of giving all the main characters equal attention and screen time. I was particularly impressed with how Leon, Claire, Jill, Chris, and Rebecca all had their moments to shine. It was refreshing to see such a diverse cast of characters come together and work as a team. Their interactions were natural and flowed seamlessly, making it easy to get lost in the story. The chemistry between Jill and Leon was undeniable and added to the overall excitement of the movie. It was thrilling to see two beloved characters come together and work towards a common goal. The brief duel between them was a highlight of the movie and showcased their respective abilities. I couldn't help but wonder what other adventures they could have together in future games. While the plot of the movie might seem predictable to some, what sets this particular installment apart is the fact that we get to witness the main characters team up for the very first time. It was exciting to watch beloved characters come together and interact in new and unexpected ways, and this movie definitely delivered on that front. The ending scene perfectly captured the sense of camaraderie and teamwork that the characters had developed throughout the film. It left me feeling hopeful for what the future might hold for the Resident Evil franchise. Overall, I highly recommend this movie to any fan of the series or anyone looking for a thrilling and entertaining action movie.

Why am I not surprised!

Simply put, everything has been way too familiar to me as an RE fan. As a decade-old and die-hard fan it is essentially a movie that shouldn't to be missed. You would create an unnecessary missing link if you have watched all the RE series on Netflix.

But then it doesn't mean that i am happy with the Death Island. It's way too familiar to fans like me. The producing crew must be a daredevil! How dare they keep Jill's outfit unchanged from the RE3 REmake game! Seriously? Don't even bother to change the colours or something? And the clicking sound of a tactical flashlight is the foolishest mistake I have ever come to. Gosh she would be dead if she pressed the end-cap button, I mean it.

I hate the scene when they lined up to shoot the BOW/monster. It like a bunch of kids shooting turkeys in a carnival. So lame so obsurd.

And they have wasted a very potential character: Maria. I thought her debut could be iconic. Damn I was painfully wrong.

My 5 cents: do NOT watch it if you are not a fan of RE. It is just too superficial and plain in everything.

it's fun if you don't take it seriously.

I watched this movie with my friends and we all had a blast. Don't expect it to have a unique or well-written plot. After all, it's a Resident Evil CG movie. However, for fans of the characters, watching all of them interact in this movie is a treat to those who have been waiting since the original trilogy. Additionally, Jill's return into the chronological timeline since 2009 is exciting.

The main villain and his henchmen are very one-dimensional and flat, but that is to be expected. The villain has a tragic backstory that isn't even worth getting invested in. His motivations are incomprehensible. That didn't stop me from finding the movie fun, though.

This film won't break any records or win many awards

For any fan from the beginning it's a treat for what it is.

The action and physics are Fast & Furious level bad, the dialogues and interactions are cringe and the "bad guy" is just bad.

This is gonna be pretty biased, if you arent a fan of all things RESIDENT EVIL you aint gonna like this one and this aint for you either.

The villain was pretty decent, in that his backstory and motives far outshone his actual plan and endgame.

It was slow at some moment like they kept showing soldier past scenes 5 times. But still is bing watch.

When started to stream this movie, I didn't realize it is a full CGI creation. When I finished watching this movie I was surprised to see voice actors was involved, as I thought the dialogues were for sure done with AI artificial voices.

Am a huge fan of the Resident Evil games and all the movies.

Missed Opportunity

Really letdown. It was a huge missed opportunity

You had all but 2 of the main characters from the RE franchise. All together interacting with one another for the first time and it just fell flat

The story was okay. Its more or less what you may expect from a video game adaptation but it could have been better. That's another thing that bothers me. So far, we've seen some really good adaptations from video games such as the Last of Us and now Twisted Metal. There should be no excuses for such a letdown especially for a franchise with such a huge and dedicated fanbase like RE

The dialogue was where it felt letdown for me the most: there could have just been so much more done with it and make it so much more intriguing. Even RE: Infinite Darkness did a better job than this

There are some positives: the animation looked amazing, and the action sequences were satisfying. The main villain's motivations was adequate enough and does explore some effects of trauma

But still, as a long time fan of the series, I was really disappointed. It was a missed opportunity.
