Babette Francois is a calypso singer who retired some years ago. Her husband and manager Ellijah St John is found dead in a bar.

The same bar where DI Neville Parker was having a drink at the time.

It should be an open and shut case. It seems Elijah St John was poisoned having a vintage bottle of spirit. It could not be the bottle as Clifford Brown, a fanzine editor was also at the bar and drank from the same bottle.

Parker is puzzled, he also contemplates his future in Saint Marie.

This was an engaging murder mystery, especially as Parker goes through the events because he was there. It adds a different twist to the story.

The song that is sung Underneath the Mango Tree was featured in the very first James Bond film, Dr No.

A strong end to the series.

After a few weeks off sick, Noel returns to work, whilst sat in a beach side bar, a witness happens under his very nose, making him question his time on the Island.

This was actually a strong end to the series, I thought the previous two parter would have perhaps made the better choice to round the series off, a better mystery in my opinion, but this was very good in its own right, and very much put Neville centre stage.

I'm not sure why, but the speculation that has surrounded Little's time on the show seems to have gone on for about two years, on the plus side series 13 and 14 have both been commissioned.

Neville gets a bit of closure, that scene with Sophie was excellent, and showed how good an actor Ralph Little really is, I'm not sure the character started off in thr greatest way, but when he was given the chance, in the last few episodes for example, he was excellent. For me he was the standout here, perhaps his best episode.

A few laughs, the look on Marlon's face when Darlene started singing was an absolute joy.

8/10.

MVP to Chelsea Edge

Warning: Spoilers
The most valuable player award must go to Chelsea Edge, who was able to transform personas from Neville's finally-found-love to a cold-blooded murderer. She should have her own spin-off series or even have a cameo in Beyond Paradise where she squares off against Humphrey in a vicarious way.

Chelsea's speech to Neville at the end was heart-breaking, and I'm surprised Neville didn't ask about their joyful and blissful times together. Like did they do the beast with two backs and did it mean anything or what?

Anyway, I look forward to the next season and am already enjoying Beyond Paradise for sure.
