Mac's actions and behavior in this episode is beyond belief illegal and inexcusible to the point that even your most bought judge would have to call him to the carpet. He engages in Torture, Abuse of Authority, Misappropriation of Police Property, Witness Intimidation, and Murder.
There is no way any police force worthy of the name would tolerate this behavior. Back in season 2 he fired an employee for just one incident of /possibly/ tampering with evidence.
And the rest of the lab should be under investigation for allowing and enabling this behavior.
Furthermore, there is no way he should have been allowed to work this case for EXACTLY this reason. It was a bad idea when it was allowed to happen in CSI Vegas, and it is worse here.
Oh, and absolutely all the evidence against the criminals is too contaminated to be even touched by the DA. Prosecuting these people is impossible.
It's a good thing this show was going to end soon--where it has gone is intolerable. The writer should be ashamed.
