would've been better without the pool full of poo scenes

Warning: Spoilers
Buy low, sell high.

It does take place in the Barbie universe, but Klaus barely makes an appearance here. Because this is Schipper's film. It's a new entry into the current continuity, but it seems no one is organizing any info on the barbieverses.

With it being about a kid and about babysitting i was wary that it'll be for very little kids. But no it has some jokes even in the beginning. And seeing a /usa/ movie with a daddy and no daddy issues is so refreshing.

And then it starts to really go off the rails. In a movie about child labour, the kids are shovelling an entire pool of human /doodoo/. Now that's what i call putting poo into pool. And of course the writers bath the children in it several times.

Then the five-dimensional bus kidnaps a bunch of kids. I swear it never happened to me before, it's bigger on the inside. And the kids get lost in a sandstorm, then fly an experimental robot clown aeroplane. The new girl is vomiting in every possible way. And the Skipper starts to talk to dolphins. Yeah, this is one of the movies ever.

The animation is of somewhat lower budget. They cut all costs on simulations, so the liquids and adhesiveness look terrible. The 3D models look a bit uncanny, especially their jaws. There are several tangential cheaper 2D scenes. And the movie uses awkward solutions for their own design choices. In real 3D rendering it's harder to deal with the things usa is always being an absolute creep about.

Cute

The 42nd Barbie movie and the first Barbie movie to have Skipper as a title character.

Loved the 2D-animated segments, the animation was so smooth and I loved the art style. Same goes for the main 3D-animation and the art style. Cute and gorgeous girls and a likable voice cast.

The Spotlight She Deserves

If you've been watching the world of Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures from the beginning, you'll see how Skipper has very pronounced character development. She starts out aloof and temperamental before turning into someone more mindful and responsible. This movie, the first project where she's the lead, shows how far she's come. Having it focus on her babysitting service is a pretty smart choice, as it allows her to show off how well she can adapt to any situation. She shows a great deal of leadership qualities, such as looking out for others and helping those that can't help themselves. Everything else about the movie works pretty well, such as how enjoyable the new characters are, Tammy gaining more depth, and the music being enjoyable. I definitely recommend checking this out.

Skipper Gets The Limelight, Which She Deserves

When it comes to the character of Skipper, she's either just the complainer or someone who focuses too much on being cool, not really standing out that much. With the world of Barbie: Dreamhouse Adventures, she became a more nuanced and three dimensional character. Over the years, she becomes someone who's more mindful of others and more willing to do the right thing. This movie shows how well she's developed. The best way to describe this movie is with how we get to see more sides to her characters. She's fun and snarky, but also more willing to look out for others. She takes the initiative to make the most of herself and do what she can to help people find their voice. It's really fun to see her blossom and grow into someone who can make people feel safe and secure. She makes mistakes sure, but focuses more on doing the right thing. This helps to make the movie work.
