Becoming hard to watch...
charliehasler23 August 2023
I'm really struggling to enjoy this once loved show all because of the acting of Banerjee! It's so bad it painful.

Every line she says it like she is reading from an autocue, so wooden and boring. I know the writing and casting team have a lot to do with this but the actor herself is just so poor. The show is becoming so frustrating to watch and I'm wondering how I will get through another 15 episode watching her abysmal portrait of an FBI agent.

I thought it was bad when we had to suffer with keen for all those episodes but this is worse. I can only hope she is written out of the show very soon.

All in all enjoyable, but an avoidable plothole
mail-shadow29 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Take care: minimal spoilers ahead.

Allthough this one almost does not progress the main storyline i found myself liking this episode.

It was a "business as usual" crime procedural, but the characters were nice to follow.

The real bad part was the conclusion of the story line in the end, cause you see the killer who should have been in the system killing the victim without any gloves and leaving a whole mess of DNA and fingerprint evidence.

That alone made the whole premise of the series a bit unbelievble.

It was 2 mins before the end, so 40 mins episode. Let's see what the next episodes have in stock.

PS: Why do i need 600 chracters for an episode review.

It Was OK

A judge is murdered. She leaves a name on her computer with bloody fingers. It's the name of a mafia guy and implicates his son who is set to go to prison. Red knows he shouldn't, despite his badness (my word) in the past. So we need a new suspect. Red has an autistic friend who has a baby he takes care of. He is a computer geek and can see things others can't. May as well through the old beyond belief guy into the mix. It isn't enough to catch this guy, but now Red is about to be betrayed by his old buddy by those Chines guys. I hope they don't take up the whole season! There are significant plot holes, but when you have a character like Reddington, who sort of plays God all the time, why pay any attention to those.

Is this all that is left?
supermodelyum4 April 2023
This show used to be a rather interesting show with compelling plot lines and multiple storylines woven together like an elaborate spy novel. Episodes like this feel like the product of a writer's strike. It is, sadly, a simplistic (and obvious) paint by numbers procedural cop drama. (Yawn). Hopefully there won't be many more "filler" episodes like this. It did nothing to advance the main story other than to introduce a new character whose condescending & ironic quips are an embarrassment for a show that has often been host to quirky, odd and amusing Reddington associates. - The oddball (different & unusual) friends of Reddington have often been the best bits. - Character actors who get the spot light for once. Mocking the "foosball playing lawyer" who takes care of his baby smacks of the same intolerance the show bends over backward to champion in other contexts. "He's weird but he's really good", is somehow allowed in THIS instance? ...Maybe tolerance should be afforded everyone? Not just those on in vogue? - Mock no one or mock everyone. But picking & choosing IS discrimination - However you justify it.

Poor production values
ay621 August 2023
This instalment is quite the dull and unimaginative episode which doesn't really further the greater story or character development in any way. It's little more than a police procedural with no twists, no turns, no suspense, no Blacklist!

But aside from that, there's one really irritating thing about this episode, which led me to giving it such a poor rating: bad sound production. This is a high budget show; there's no excuse for shoddy phone-it-in production! There's more than one point where there's massively obvious post-production ADR work where they've changed the script, changed some lines. Visually it's undetectable, so credit there to the editors, but aurally it's an abomination - the sound is not matched at all; the volume changes, the echo level changes, it's blatantly obvious the new lines were recorded later and just pasted in without a competent sound engineer's supervision. I wasn't even looking for it but it leapt out at me. It's like they don't even care anymore.
