The poacher uses her knife wrongly when she goes to gut the dead deer. The correct way to open the gut wall of a dead animal is to pinch the skin, slice it, insert the tip of the knife into the slit with the edge of the blade facing outwards and then begin cutting through the skin. This helps to prevent the blade from penetrating the intestines and spoiling the meat with digestive juices. Any hunter or poacher who had to hunt for a living would know this basic fact.
Für Elise by Beethoven is played by a music box. The show is set in 1865, but Für Elise was not published until 1867, 40 years after Beethoven's death.
